I have to say the 2nd meet went very well. I met a great bunch of players and had a really great game against 'More Dakka' and his Orks. I never faced a horde army before so I was a bit overwhelmed. But I managed to wipe out majority of his army at the cost of the majority of mine, for the tie.
'More Dakka' is a well informed and experienced player. I had alot of fun and can't wait to play him again. I highly suggest you challenge him to a game.
Unfortunately, I was unable to have a 2nd game with the other players, mostly due to introductions. Both 'Wolfshadow' and 'CGBSpender' are a great bunch of guys and they had a pretty good game.
Now, I can not play every week, but some of you can. I will be adding admins to the Facebook group so that they can create more events I will be also posting them here as well with the corresponding host.
It looks like we are building a pretty good group and I hope to meet new players. In time we can probably hold our own tournaments.

I'll be booking the same 2 back tables at GW Yonge+Lawrence for Saturday morning again (calling them tomorrow to book).
CGBSpender has already confirmed he's coming, if anyone else can make it let me know here or on the FB page, if noone else confirms I'll give up one of the tables when I get there (they won't let us hold an unused table for very long on a Sat).

the yonge lawerence store has 40k nights every thursday incase you guys werent aware.
Im there most thursdays. But I have been looking for other places to go that play at higher points level. Everyone there plays at 1500 and is really hard pressed to go any higher. I would much prefer to do 1850 or even 2k

Might take you up on that this week if you're around.
I have some Thursday's open, but for most of the consensus is that weekends are better.
Also we're looking to meet up at different places since that GW isn't convenient for everyone.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but over here in Brantford, we are going to have a small tourney for the club. Entry fee is $10.
I can get more information if people are interested. It's more for fun than competition though.

Hey, cool. I play at Heroes World.
They're my comic shop, and it's their fault I'm now playing 40k.
We're doing a 1000pt starter league, Thursdays and Sundays, where every unit must be different (no multiple Kabalyte units, for example).
So far, I am terrible at this game.

It's a starter league, to learn the rules first.
Personally, I like the restrictions. It means I don't have to buy eight Ravagers to have a chance.

Hey all i've been following this thread for a bit now and i may be in the city sometime in march (and may be moving down that way after that).
Has any thoughts yet been given to a March meet-up?
Where i'll be i can get to the GW at Young/Lawrence, Dueling Grounds, & Heavy Support with ease.
If there is let me know, it'll be great to have a game and meet a few more from Dakka

Hey
When exactly will you be in town? I will set up a meet around your schedule. We can also set it up for any of those places for you as well, most of us can go to them with ease.

I played at Heroes World a few times. I like it there but it's not easy to get to unless you drive. The other problem is that I find it hard to set up a game on a night thats not dedicated to WH40k, (Sat. for instance) as it can get busy with other events.

I'm working on that now, pushing towards the latter half of the march break, if that dosn't work then it'll be near the end of march. I'll definatly keep ya posted!

OK So here's the deal for this Saturday (Feb 19th):
Place: Two Headed Dragon
http://www.twoheadeddragon.com/
It's on Yonge 2 blocks south of North York Center station, and there is parking near by IIRC.
Time: 1:00 PM (from when they open) until we're sick of playing (they close at 10:00PM).
I've booked us two 6x4 tables.
@ CGBSpender: I've got my 1750 Orks list all hammered out, so get ready for some Whaaagh!
@ Everyone: Let me know if you're coming here or on Facebook between now and Sat.

Wrong on all three counts. Store is right off the 400, only one bus ride from Wilson station, has three 6x4 tables, and Clarence will most likely reserve at least two tables if he doesn't have any store events that day and we ask with enough notice.

Used to be there every other Saturday. Now I only go if I have a game planned.
On a second note, could the next meeting location be put to a vote, or at the very least a little bit of discussion? Finding out four days before a meeting that its at a place that nobody has even mentioned before makes it difficult to want to attend.
**edit part 3**
Styrofoam04 and I were talking earlier, and we thought that we might try having 2 meetups in March. That way, if someone can't make one, they aren't waiting a whole month for us to get together again.
We were thinking that if we do start this two meeting per month schedule, we would do one at a GW and one at an LGS, that way ...if people (like myself) have a preference of one venue over another, we can attend one meetup and skip the other.
The dates for March that we're going with are the 5th and the 26th. We've selected GW Langstaff for the 5th, and baring the manager having issue with us asking for a table or two, this will be set. We are still unsure about the location for the 26th meetup, but I believe that Styrofoam04 has an idea for that so I'll let him fill everyone in when he gets a chance.

Sounds good to me! I want to get to know the LGSs in Toronto and surrounding better.
I'm also looking forward to meeting you guys and getting more games in!
That being said *plug plug*:
This Saturday Saturday Saturday! Be There (Two Headed Dragon 1:00pm)! And If you're not there you better be dead, or in jail and if you're in jail then BREAK OUT!!!!
Sorry for making a second game in 2 weeks up in north Toronto, but I've been there before and it's right on the subway line, so it was choice #1 on short notice.

As Bunker stated I'm looking to set up 2 meets in March. One on the 5th and the other on the 26th. I really liked Bunker's Idea of having one at a GW and one at an LGS. I chose the GW Langstaff Store as it is Bunker's "home" store and he has all but good things to say about it, and it seems that Mafty also has an interest in the store. Now that being said, I called the store and spoke to Clarence (who is on Dakka and posted here about the dbls tourney in April). He says that he is having a four week event in the month of March and that the best day would be on the 5th. His event will take up the painting table and one gaming table. But for one hour around 1pm he will need all of the tables. If we decide to go there the store opens around 10am we can get a quick game and at 1pm we can grab a bite and get better acquainted. After lunch we can get a few more games in. Or we can just meet at the store around 1pm get and get acquainted (last game we spent a good hour just talking). Then when the tables are free, get on to gaming. The store closes at 7pm, so we can get good 2 games in. (depending on points) Transportation shouldn't be much of an Issue. Like Bunker stated it is 1 bus from Wilson Station. I drive and don't mind car pooling if you want to meet up somewhere. This is not set in stone, March 5th is 3 weeks away. Suggestions welcome. As for the 26th I was hoping to work it around Skarshak Skarshak wrote:Hey all i've been following this thread for a bit now and i may be in the city sometime in march (and may be moving down that way after that). I drive as well. Like I said earlier, I goto the yonge/lawerence store every thursday. Its a great store. 6 tables. Lots of people. But it seems no one will play above 1500 points, and it does get tiring playing the same 4-5 people every week. (as im sure theyre tired of playing me as well lol). Ive wanted to check out the langstaff store for variety, and id love to find a good FLGS. two-headed dragon seems good to me, never been so Id check it out.
