i'm trying to recycle my gaming budget (i try to acquire the majority of items via trading) which doesn't amount to a whole lot of sales for my FGS (not really local unfortunately since its 25 miles away). when i do buy new minis, it's at the FLGS because i want to support them as they really are a good store with a helpful, pleasant owner and a very nice gaming space.

My FLGS is actually cheaper than most online sites. Usually 25% off with deeper discounts on larger orders (He'll usually throw an item in at cost for every $100 you spend, the downside being you have to order most stuff because he likes to keep stock low so he can keep prices low. However I tend to avoid my other FLGS because he NEVER has anything in stock & is very unreliable when it comes to ordering things.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

I believe in "pay where you play". The local store however, takes a long time - (experienced 6-9 week waits) to ship pre-paid special order product. In my 15 year experience - GW ships within a week normally, 2 weeks max if there is a clerical problem on their end, and 4 weeks max if there was a shipping cockup. As such, any wait over 4 weeks is inexcusable in my mind. This has severely tested my adherece to that creed.

I no-longer support mine after they tried to get me to buy tyranids and an entire company. All sorts of other stuff they tried to make me buy. I got sick of it so I stopped going XD.
Now I go to my other comic store.

My nearest FLGS is a GW that is about a hour to two and a half hours at a weekend (cant get there during the week) so I have no option to buy stuff "locally". there is a little place, but it is just an add-on to a toy shop so not the best, besides they only have stock in when they feel like it and a pot of paint is about £3.50 so I only buy stuff if I am desperate!

you got mad at a store for trying to sell you something? what was it in particular that pissed you off enough not to go there? did they give you an ultimatum? (buy or don't play here!) short of that, i can't see anything wrong in them pushing a product. if you walk into a gw store, you get a ridiculous level of sales pitches compared to normal stores. "HI, what army do YOU play?!?... marines.. oh, well i've got the perfect thing for you then... these brand new dark eldar incubi!"

This is the problem with gaming in-store. You're trying to combine a retail business with a social club.

Im rather unlucky where I am, there are only 2 store that stock GW stuff within a hour drive and neither supports a gaming club or has tables itself to game on, and both aren't all that friendly.

So I spend my money on retailers that support dakka like battleroad games and the like, unless I go somewhere a freind plays and I want to get something, I will buy it from their FLGS.

In rural Iowa there are not many stores around to support. Almost all of of my gaming comes from tournaments at conventions. I try to buy from stores when at tournaments but with hotel fees, food, and gas it gets tough. Plus I usually bring the wife and kids so it is more of a mini vacation than a hobby stop.

I shop pretty much exclusively from my FLGS because it is simply awesome.

Wonderful staff, fun regulars, fantastic gaming space, everything I want to purchace either on site or quickly available. . .honstly the worst part is that I do not have as much time to spend there, recently.

Seeing as how Im really good friends with the people who run the FLGS in my neck of the woods I try to buy from them as much as I can. I always buy at least one item anytime I show up for a game, every other week. When I get my money for going toschool on the first i always make sure any where from $100-$250 goes into their pocket. I drive a hour to go to mine, even though there is a good gameing group whrere I live. I still very much enjoy the enviroments of all the FLGS in Augusta.

I do shop at my local stores.......but what i have noticed is the very little product they have on their shelves..........most of the time you have to order what you want and wait for them to get what you want in.........its that reason why many business are having a hard time competing with the internet

I love my local Games Workshop - few kids, many vets, many regulars, great staff (they're friendly, nice, and don't shove 1000 items in your face), there is only 3 boards, but they are 6x4, and I love the place.

I'm lucky, got two GW stores in Bristol, both really good But a little too enthusiastic some times. Our independent store is a massive three story building, run by vets, very chilled out and they sell GW stuff with a discount. Never gonna have the full range of products but it makes up for it with the atmosphere.

I shop at my local store (not GW store) to keep it open so I can play my tabletop games there. They have about 15-20 tables set up for mini wargaming and a good number of weekly players. I buy stuff online, but make sure I spend money inside the shop here as well.
