Indeed the DA got a bit of fix when they found the 'on' switch to those shields and missile launchers of theirs. ^_^
Do you normally switch armies and kick ass immediately? Just asking, I only have 1 army so I wouldn't know but I would assume I'd lose quite a bit before winning with a different army. Actually, Eldar are in contention with Guard and Tau for my second army now that I think about it. Anyway, I'd give it some time and keep playing and getting used to how they play and know how to use them before giving up on em.

Without blowing my own trumpet, yeah I do usually win the first few games with a new army, then lose majorly from then on. I have two armies for 40k, both have pretty good w/l records and two armies for WM/Hordes, both of which I can confidently take to tourneys and do well at. I think Eldar (like Cryx, Cygnar and Retribution) might be one of those armies where it just doesn't fit my gaming style. Kudos to those who can play Eldar better than I and win well, but after yesterday I certainly don't want to play them again at least until they get a new dex. Until then, I'm going to wait for the GK.

My first army is to be Eldar.
It's taking so long to paint, though, that I'll be using the Marines from AoBR to learn with, and bring the Eldar on when they're ready to play.
So, I'm an Eldar player, just missing an army.
I went with them from what I remembered from RT, and the rest of the armies didn't really grab me.
IG is even worse, I expect, to start with, being lots of cheap troops, and bit armour.

Just heading back to Eldar myself, been distracted because of the 40K doubles and getting my Orks ready.
When I get back I intend to be painting Eldar most of the summer.
I'd agree the lack of plastic kits for Elite troops in a pain, ten Banshees was a slow cleaning process I can tell you.
Although I still love the look of the army, very few others look right when having nearly every unit and its Transport unique to the rest of the force colour scheme wise.

Because GW wanted to kill them off since 3rd edition.
1.) Lots of new fluff in other army books and Black Library shows no respect to the faction as a whole.
2.) Rules don't match the archetype. Dying race = arm your civilians with cardboard and shotguns and send them in hordes to the frontlines.
3.) Complex rules to disguise inferiority in weapons and stats which make no sense.
4.) Archetypes given to everyone else. Anything unique is diluted and distributed: Medium Fast Skimmers, Run rule, Rapid Fire weapons just off the top of my head.
5.) Everytime something powerful for them pops up, it's because of interactions that weren't thought through thoroughly, then nerfed in later editions.
6.) Metal Army (didn't stop them becoming popular in 2nd edition, where there was the most GW growth outside of a LOTR bubble)
7.) Variety in concepts that no longer translate into variety in game. Heavy weapons are more or less 'what flavour of S6 shots do you want?' and you'll be running Serpents and Fire Dragons if you don't want to hand the game over.
I've shelved them away for now and mostly play Fantasy now. Dark Eldar have sparked my interest though, so I picked up them.

That is the best explanation I've heard yet - Kudos.

GW hasn't been "trying" to kill them off, that's a fairly silly viewpoint. Remember that When the current book was released it was the terror of 4th Edition.
Rather, what GW has been doing has been running out of ideas for other armies and had to resort to devising ever more powerful weapons and capable vehicles for other factions. It has nothing to do with wanting to kill off the Eldar. Eldar have never been an army that has been truly neglected by GW. They were *THE* ultimo-cheese of 2nd Edition, they were extremely powerful in 3rd edition, and in 4th edition after their 2006 book were the top tier tournament army. Yes, they aren't what they formerly were, but still get more support than other armies. Nobody else has gotten a new unit outside of their codex release (Nightspinner).

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

1. Older Plastics- Eldar models (notably Guardians) are NOT Space Marines. By this I mean that they are a pain in the arse to put together. Having assembled both Space Marines and then Tau, I found Eldar plastics to be extremely finicky in comparison. I've learned since my first disaster of a guardian squad, but I fear the same fate awaits my first attempt at a War Walker or Dire Avengers. While the models look pretty awesome, they are not recommended for beginners.
I had a desire to start Eldar a long time ago, but I kept telling myself that I would wait until the aspect warriors came out in plastic. I got tired of waiting and bought some models. Now I am glad the aspects are in metal. The guardians and avengers are a pain to assemble, guardians being worse than the avengers. The serpent/falcon chassis is a bother too. The only plastic models that have gone together well for me are the war walkers and wraithlords.

I hear you there!!!
So far the only armies I have yet to beat are Orks and Eldar.
Nids are a tough match up.
DE is my favourite - not lost against the new ones yet.

It sound like from your list that you didnt have enough power weps. Drop pod armies are hell every way you put them or at least against eldy. This is mainly because eldar are about hitting stronge points hard and taking out the straglers with ease from a far. What i can think of for the 3 armies you had versed would be that you just needed some speed. If you would have been able to dart out of the middle of the field than you would have been golden. I also think that some warlocks would be good. I personaly like to run Yriels because he always wounds on a 2+ so in some cases he is better than the Blood Avatar, only if he could get eternal warrior he would reck peoples days all the time. I would loose the wraith gaurd as well not anough range and to slow to be very affective. wave serpants would be nice. just one or two im not saying to turn it into mechdar., but you still need speed. sorry about all the spelling im insainly tired.
