Warriors of Ultramar I believe consists of a single gun inside an emplacement, although this needs clarification.

It's a single massive cannon, housed inside of a hugely fortified and protected emplacement. They usually have a single Guard/PDF regiment permanently stationed inside the outer defenses, along with a myriad of servitor and automatic defenses.

there are also ground based Torpedo silos(basically ICBM silos with space targeting capabilities)

the Torpedos are the size of todays Skyscrapers.

Somewhere in south-central England.

In the future, an attacker would probably fill a defensive ditch by shelling it with polyurethane foam canisters, if he wanted to assault the fortification.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

lol

I am not convinced about the ballistic qualities of foam.

wouldn't air currents play havoc with your aim?

and couldn't the defenders counter with leaf blowers to keep the ditches clear?

now. about another Planetstrike product,

Fortress of Redemption

it is said that Dark Angels were the first to introduce it. and it's more or less permanent (or isn't it another prefab structures like the Bastion itself?)

also is this Space-Marines exclusive? if they do man AEGIS defense system and the Bastion. I'm not sure if IG formations did vice versa? ... manning FoD?

its certaintly more permanent then Bastions are.

it has a lower profile aside from the missile silo. the fighting platforms are squatter, it likely incorperates underground rooms for storage.

What are you meaning by "Space-Marines exclusive"?

If you're asking "do only Space Marines use them", then no. The Dark Angels had, apparently, during the aftermath of the Horus Heresy started to build up these 'Fortresses of Redemption' on worlds throughout the Imperium. They're intended to be defensive positions and waypoints that the Unforgiven can retreat to if they capture a fairly influential member of the Fallen and secure them until the Dark Angels can take possession of them.

Otherwise, most of the time, those fortresses are empty and utilize their automated defenses.

The Aegis defense system and the Bastion as well have automated defensive weapons, not manned ones.

the Imperium does make use of unmanned defense systems in many areas.

the bulk of anti-air defenses are Servitor manned.

the only human operated defenses will be smaller weapons such as heavy bolters or Multi-lasers(and even then, many will be servitor manned)

yeh I mean that.

but if you said that Marines weren't the only ones allowed to use it. then is there any instances that the Imperial Guard uses one?

and thanks for the original answer of whether the Bastion weapons are manually crewed or automated ones.
but sayin' that SM manned Aegis defence line means that they stand the blast walls

the Aegis defense line and Bastions are used by both marines and IG.

the Bastions and Aegis defense lines are useful to Astartes because they can be used to rapidly set up a defensive position quickly if the marines need to hold one.

the IG uses them for this same purpose. a instant fortress.

There's nothing saying "Only X is allowed to use it". In the field if the Guard or an Astartes Chapter see these 'abandoned' Dark Angels fortresses, usually kept off the map so the Unforgiven have something secret, there'd be nothing to prevent them from going in there and setting up shop.

We've got no specific instances of the Guard using one, but eh. So what.

and thanks for the original answer of whether the Bastion weapons are manually crewed or automated ones.

"Stand behind the blast walls" you mean?
Of course the Astartes would stand behind it...if they actually were holding a defensive position. Usually, they won't because defensive fights almost always end up being protracted sieges which is exactly what the Astartes are terrible at.

The Bastion weapons are automated heavy bolters mounted in the loopholes. They could likely be done up to be manually used, but I don't see why you'd want to.
