I know this might be classed as Thread Necromancy, but this is the best method I've seen for painting Orks.
It works so well.

If I have one criticism of AP Colour Primers, it is the fact they don't colour match a pot to it.
So if you spray them, a miss a tiny amount, or maybe when painting something you have a mistroke / Mistake, the ability to correct the area with a Colour that matches the spray would be a "God Send".

Great little tutorial! I am just about to start painting my fresh horde and although I want a mix of clans I am now extremely tempted by the full Bad moon scheme! Excellent quick and easy guide With some really nice results.
I particularly liked the green washes onto a yellow base coat, it gave it some really nice tones and im now wondering what different base coats would produce. I imagine a light blue base coat would also give some nice skin colours.

Thanks guys! Just a heads up, I have tried this with Krylon Paint+Primer Yellow and it works great.
It sprays really heavy so you have to keep your models far away and do light coats to let the primer adhere and dry properly but the gloss finish doesn't hurt the washing effect, if anything it enhances it!

Beil Tan works just as well, though it's a bit more green and lacks that blue-ish undertone, maybe mix in a bit of the blue glaze? I haven't tried glazes yet, if you have em, try em out and post pics here!

Found this earlier, after pondering on what klan to use. Always hated using yellow cus it's such a pain, decided to pop to my local Modelzone (huge sale due to administration) and picked up a couple of cans of yellow spray paint (£2.50 each was a right bargain!), gave this tut a whirl. Had to use coelia greenshade due to GW being closed on Mondays, and it turned out just as good! Now actually gonna have my army painted up in no time at all!

How would this turn out if you didn't want to use yellow? I'm not sure I want to make yellow orcs, but would the skin come out the same way with other colors? I'm not sure what color I want to do but I do have some blue at home I could start with... just not sure how that would turn out in the end.
So, suggestions for using colors other than yellow?

And then the repainting begun.
Pretty cool though.
Personally i´d go with Agrax Earthshade, because i think Gryphonne is too yellow in my opinion.

Is it coverage problems that mean you prime and then spray the AP Daemonic yellow primer?
I use the AP bone a lot, thought it was terrible at first, but was advised to use it close up, always indoors, and since then it's been terrific. Perhaps the yellow is simply not as good.
Edit: for future reference. THe Daemonic Yellow doesn't spray anything like as well as the bone; so yes, you need an undercoat. I've mainly switched to Humbrol Trainer yellow, which I prefer to the AP; it sprays on thinner, and I"m hoping it gives less bleed.
