what kind of foam are you after?

just finished my first bit of terrain for the club, some chain link fences, each one is about 8-9" long

hopefully should be able to make at least another 6 lengths with the material I have

what do you guys think?

I forgot to say that looks fantastic! It's really cool that you're going to provide this
Anything else planned for the day? I'm sure some unit could use... 6+cover save... yeah

Also ForsakenBacon, although we be providing additional terrain for the gaming club, say if something went wrong and sometime in the future we had to close. Is it possible to keep the terrain we made/brought for you when it's all well and done?
It's not a big deal, since they're gifts for the club. But I'm sure your house can't hold them all

sure, you can keep whatever terrain you make and if you don't want it i'll be happy to take it off your hands. But hopefully we will be playing a long time after the terrain has worn out.
The terrain will be kept on site most likely, or you can take it home and bring it back/give it to me to store. I don't have a problem with either of these options.

As for the terrain book, thanks for the offer but I think I have a copy of it somewhere.

Gents, just a quick one, I just found out I have to move house in the next few weeks. hopefully that should not affect any plans we have, but I have to pack away all my hobby kit so I wont be able to make any more terrain until I finish my move!

Hope all goes well.

Guys, I'm out of inspiration for the boards, I have one that is sand/grass based with rocks, basically the standard kinda board.
i think the second board will be an urban board with fences/ buildings etc... Anyone have any ideas as to any other type of board they might like?

In fact, does anyone want a board to work on? Things would go a lot faster that way lol

Just a list of ideas, though obviously no rush to get them down... if you even CAN rush them

Snow board with a radar station in the middle
Swamp board with 3 river streams. include dangerous terrain mudtraps
Jungle board with death plants and marshes everywhere
lava world with dangerous terrain cracks
a plain grassboard... obviously for custom design
an ork fortress central in a desert board
an farmland board with hayfields (lots of em), wooden building and roads
A battlefield with craters, wrecked vehicles, barrels, weapons, debris and TRENCHES (think world war 1 inspiration)
steampunk inspired train station with brick/wood-constructed buildings and wires everywhere.
forest board with... well, trees everywhere. FOREST board
Giant cross-motorway with different heights. Bizarre idea
Industrial zone (possible Inquisitor/Necromunda inspired) or Neon Lights and Logos everywhere. Possible central city district?

and so forth, I post more if needed

Wrong person Bacon

Also Bromley GW on thursday was much MUCH better than wednesday Bluewater. For one thing there were plenty of spare tables
Challenged an Imperial Guard Army, I lost... but I was foolish to assault with my Orks too early, just one more turn of movement.

About terrain I'm looking at various sources right now but I did find this and I thought it was a pretty good deal

5 craters (4 if you balance the sizes) for roughly £12, I might get this if you won't. They will be great to mix in any field, mainly grass though

Hi,

I'm living in Lee and spotted the notice about this club. I've been gaming at GW Bromley recently, but Blackheath would be a bit handier! I'm not on Facebook, so I thought I'd post here instead. I can field about 1k of IG, Orks or Marines (although the latter are my daughter's army) and am happy to chip in with terrain (scratch built hills, buildings & some resin bits).

Have you sorted out a day/time for a get-together?

Amera are very good for cheap terrain - it's all simple, vac-formed pieces that can take up a lot of table-space..

That be good to know
I have an army for Bacon if his Eldar are not ready, though only 1000 points. Could extend to 1500 if needed.
Can the place be booked in time? Also going to need an confirmation for this if true

Some of them look rubbish, even for the price. But others look great. I love the city buildings

Afternoon guys, I have a business meeting on Thurs 11 so we will have to meet on 18th. I'll get cracking and book the hall for then provided we have enough people coming ( I will PM you all) If you know someone who isn't on the forums but would like to come on the day let me know via PM.

As for terrain, we can sort a day to meet but it cannot be at the church so I'm not sure where we can all meet to paint etc. Any help on terrain would be amazing however.

I'm trying to get as much sorted as I can but it's going slow. Worst case scenario is that we will be playing on boards with no texture for a few weeks (thats texture, not terrain).

18th is fine

though try and get that 3 hours to start with instead of 2
I'm not sure if you can convince people to pay £5 for 2 hours every week

I've discussed this with Bacon on msn
We're trying to get a discount so we can extend it to 3 hours to now.
When we have more people, we can go to 5

Best to arrange after the thursday... if there is an event at thursday. Depends on the riot conditions
I don't think I'm going to get those craters now, I misread the part about it being unpainted and unflocked which put me off.
I will still try and bring something though, now I can't promise if it arrive in time.

Itching to get down and play, sucks that all my stuff is packed ready for my move! (wonder if my fiancée with mind if I unpack it?)

had some thoughts about a list, I was thinking something like a master of the forge as a commander for something a bit different, with some dreads and sternguard

anything anyone would like to play againt in particular? I pretty much have a company of marines so can field most things

anything people think I should avoid because they would be boring to play againt?

BTW guys I have an airbrush so if you want any terrain painted quickly I'm happy to bring it along to any terrain/painting gig

Well if this week is going to be 2 hours (I need to know the update from bacon) I might not be able to play
I want to give Bacon his first 40k and just relax the 2 hours without rushing it.
We see if there is time later if no one challenges you

In terrain news I've bought some craters though unpainted/unflocked and I might get some model train buildings, but they're good model sizes for 40k converting... just don't expect it done on the first week.
I might need Bacon to pick it up if I can't carry it... it willl be big terrain pieces If I manage to get them

Right guys, the plan is that by Thursday I will have 4 boards ready, Urban, desert, grass and lava. I'll see if I can get anymore completed but then but I dunno. That's enough for 8 people to play. Again, any terrain would be awesome, unpainted or painted, I don't mind because it's early days.
