My Civic was one of these. The only obvious change came in the form of a seat swap with a '97 Prelude.
I miss that car, but my newly purchased Exige makes up for it a bit
I liked the 92-96 prelude better. How's the Exige treating you? I love mid engine cars, but those newer lotuses were too small. I mean I'm only 6 feet tall, not a giant by any means and I just couldn't get comfortable in them. My legs are disproportionately long and I just felt really cramped. Fun though. I have a had time fitting comfortably in most tight cars, shockingly the MR2 fits me perfectly.

Imagine a civic with a base model body, but everything else has been upgraded. You can actually imagine somebody's grandma driving it, but then it blows you away. So no big spoilers, no spinners or low profiles, no neon, just what you need to do to make it perform better. Some people go as far as to paint them in primer and remove all the insignia's from them, but I always thought that was more of a dead giveaway that this guy is serious. Giant spoiler just scream poser.
Real spoilers can be a benefit at as low as 40MPH, those things you see on most cars are not spoilers, they are just decoration.
Ah I see. Well this is what I've always planned to do with a project car. Even with my tC I was gonna keep the outside stock, except for maybe the TRD body kit which is still very modest look to only accent the car's body, not be ugly and flashy. I hate that, because I'm the kinda guy that doesn't talk gak unless I can back it up.
And again, the whole weight thing isn't a huge issue because there's no denying that the American sports cars of today are still great vehicles that are still in high demand. It's just a weird quirk I noticed and wondered why manufacturers want a heavier platform.

I'm only 5'9, but fairly burly, so the issue I have is that its a tight fit in the seats. Not uncomfortably so, but tight.
It is a great drive, but it does eat gas (its my only car) so I tend to bike most places. I live in a college town, so that's no big deal.
Honestly, I only bought it because I was looking for a car, and got a sweet deal from my uncle's friend; 18 grand.

That is a great deal! It should get pretty good gas mileage especially on the freeway, it's a 1.8 liter turbo charged 4 banger no? Unless of course you are flogging in everywhere. It can't weigh anything.

Yeah, 1.8 I4. Its a little over 2000 lbs. It is good on the highway, but the resistance from the super kills low end gas millage (its an S). Its listed at 24 mpg city, but it really works out to about 20, conversely the highway list is 29, but woks out to about 35.
Before my uncle told me about this, I was going to buy a CR-Z.

Ahh, it's supercharged yeah that can be a drag, it's to bad you can't just disengage that when you want. The CRZ sucks, I'm so dissapointed, I really like how it looks and I was hoping it would drive like the old CRX, but it's just anemic even in sports mode from what I hear. And the MPG is not that impressive for a hybrid.

My buddy and I built built an 11.5 second CRX, with a B16 swap, in high school, so that was a large part of my draw.

My buddy in high school did much the same thing in his advanced autos class. It was a rocket......until it got buried in snow one winter and was mistaken as a snowdrift by a plow.

Ours was paid for by the shop we worked for at the time, so it was "ours" only in the sense that we built it. When the two of us went to college they sold it for less than the aftermarket parts were worth.

To do so would mean a rebirth of the Plymouth brand name. Since they've redone the Challenger and Charger, I actually hope they re do the Daytona and Super Bee (and not just as an add on, or an edition of Ram pickup)

That's right, I forgot that they killed Plymouth. They did redo the super bee didn't they? Daytona, you mean like the Lazer Daytona. I never liked those. The Shelby Daytona on the other hand.

No, This Daytona:
Technically, its a Charger Daytona, but for all intents and purposes, back then it was its own model of car. I am still abit pissed off that they did the new Charger as a four door sedan type car, albeit a very mean, super badass sedan.

Speakin' of the CRX, I really hope Japanese auto makers re-introduce their old sports coupes that have died in the decline for sports cars.
What happened to the Prelude? The NSX?
Acura's RSX?
I would like the Toyota Celica to come back; however, I believe the Scion tC is its successor.
In fact, looking at the definition of a Pony Car and looking at the Scion tC, I'd say that the tC is like a Japanese Pony Car.
Think about:
~It's affordable
~Sporty
~Plenty of options from the manufacturer
~Lightweight
~Definitely advertised to the youth.
The only thing it's missing are variants.I think the tC needs it's own GTS variant with a potent V6 and tons of manufacturer (TRD) support for performance part options. Then it can truly compete with the Civic.
And in other news. I just ordered this AWESOME cold air intake for my 66 Mustang from Spectre! It was so cool I couldn't resist. Right now I have the stock air cleaner which on;t has the small opening for a snorkel. So the engine has a hole smaller than my fist to suck air in through. Luckily Spectre makes a cold air intake system that mounts directly on top of your carburetor. It looks just like an OEM air cleaner, but the snorkel is made to fit 4" inlet pipes for the cold air intake. I can't wait til it arrives!

God, I forget how many cars they got off the same frame. I thought it was weird that they gave it 4 doors also, makes it harder to slide through the windows, duke boy style. The two door is served by the new challenger.
