The wheels will be available alone - either as sets of 2 or 4 - and the chassis will probably also be available solo as it will be compatible with the other turrets we do.

Yup. All 7 turret guns in the complete kit -- $39.99

The price will almost certainly go up eventually but for now I'm making it a direct only buy which lets me keep the price down.

Awesome kit! This reminds me of the tanks from the classic Metal Slug arcade games. I can see myself potentially picking one of these up even though I don't really have a gaming use for it-- it's just that cool!

That would look terrific in an Elysian army (though they'd probably need something heftier than a Sky Talon to carry it)

I really hope that is the normal price point. That is really nice. I am pleasantly surprised. I promised myself that if I ever get around to Imperial Guard, it's be AdMech, but I'm going to have to find some justification to squeeze some of these in there somehow.

Thanks everyone - although I don't see why it has to be an Imperial Guard vehicle.

You could easily use this for Space Marines if you like.

And I added the hull as a standalone product because a couple of Ork players asked me to

Lots of possibilities - although for 40k I suppose Guard would be my first thought too.

@Absolutionis -- that is the normal price. I might have to raise it eventually but I have no plans to do so at the moment.

You should do some sort of anti aircraft weaponry for it. Only thing holding me back from ordering 2 is a lack of viable turret

This is a good problem to have. You should order two - just in case you have trouble deciding after you get them

sparkywtf wrote:You should do some sort of anti aircraft weaponry for it. Only thing holding me back from ordering 2 is a lack of viable turret

If the kit does well there will be additional turrets and new kits.

Ouze wrote:What happened to the Gatling gun in the 3d render?

Same here on the "if the kit does well" thread -- we'll add accessory options like stowage, a mine sweeper, secondary weapon systems, etc.

But given how late this was to the market - on account of the fact I'm a picky SOB - I thought it was more important to run with what we have, since it's a great kit, than continue to delay (and spend more money) just to make the kit go to 11.

Looks great. How about an add on with some extra space around back, to make it look like a troop transport, and a smaller turret.. like to count-as-chimera with wheels?

Is there any exact measurements? Ie how would this match up with a Games Workshop Chimera kit? It looks as though it could be counted as a number of vehicles in the Imperial Guard arsenal (Leman Russ Demolisher/Executioner/Exterminator/Vanquisher (if the barrel was less realisticly sized), a Chimera with a Multilaser, a Hellhound and possibly a Hydra (though again the guns are a realistic scale for a real world AA tank, but in 40k they'd be better suited to a twin linked heavy bolter/stubber). The turret's a nice size and shaped and the whole design would fit in well with some of the newer ranges of human soldiers that are coming out now-ie Mantic Game's Corporation. Its an alright price for a resin/metal kit, but its not exactly competative with the GW kits that I'm assuming that a lot of people will be buying them for, though its a nice enough miniature to offset this in my eyes.

Ooh and all those filter/tank things are just great, though it would be nice to have an optional pintle mounted weapon option available in later releases. And a larger turret variant shaped a little like an Abram's one would be nice, though I guess you may need a larger hull to mount it on (and the current turret is a nice size already). ^^

As for the turret - no plans to make this one smaller but if you use the multi-laser or machine guns you could easily call it a Chimera as it's about the same size.

We have plans for an 8 or 10 wheeled APC -- but it needs to be larger to accommodate a squad of ten 28mm troops.

There are also plans for additional turrets -- but specialized pieces like an anti-aircraft mount -- and a mine plow, stowage and more... but those things will only hit if the kit does well enough to pay for itself in a short time

And a post while I was posting

The finished kit measures 5" long (127mm) 3.25" wide (80mm) and 2.5" (60mm) to the top of the turret. It is a similar size to the Chimera.

I don't know why you'd say it's not competitively priced though -- the GW Chimera is only $5 less than this kit and comes with fewer weapon options. The Russ is $10 more. If you're thinking of using the turret as a replacement on your Russ or Chimera you'll save about $2 on a Chimera conversion and $5 on a Russ conversion from Forge World.

Of course competing with GW wasn't the goal on this one. It's a unique kit with incredible detail intended as much for modeling as gaming.

Ah, cool.. I like the idea of extra wheels, it'll look even meaner.. looking forward to seeing that.

Personally I think the price is just right.. you could easily count it as any chimera based tank like a Hellhound, or even rhino based tanks like a predator without sponsons or a razorback

Thanks!

The original design is years old and from someone far removed from tabletop gaming -- but the Flame Cannon could easily work for a Hellhound and the HVC for a Russ. Serendipity, that. Also makes me glad he had more than just the Plasma Cannon designed for this thing

For additional price comparison I also checked the Forge World ELYSIAN TAUROS VENATOR -- which comes in at $55 right now making this a substantial savings if you want to use it as one of those. Hadn't considered that either.

Oh no, I'm not complaining about the price at all, and I can see that my wording was incorrect there, just noting that you may inevitably get people who gripe about it not costing less than other companies (plastic) kits. Thanks for the information though. and doubly so as I've been looking for a light recon tank for a while and this seems ideal. ^^

*I'm actually sitting here oggling the tank on your store page right now, though I think I'll wait till its release before I place my order-has enough on his order list as it is at the moment. =)

Oh, no worries on the price thing - that was more for Necros
than you.

I understand having too much on your order list - and project list - to get another kit. This one will still be there. Besides, if you wait a bit then you'll be able to order TWO after you've seen a couple painted

I know you're working on a 8-10 wheeled APC, but an APC/IFV with sizes in line with the GW Chimera would likely gain you more buyers. After all, the modern United States Bradley IFV is pretty much Chimera-sized and is meant to hold six passengers (ignoring crew). The Imperial Guard Chimera is more of an IFV than an APC anyways with the whole "mechanized infantry" paradigm.
All in all, keeping the size the same (it's already Chimera-sized) but making it more passenger-friendly may be a great direction to go IMHO.

Don't get me wrong though, do what you wish. I'm just assuming that Secret Weapon is catering with a heavy nod to 40k players. Hell, I've bought many of those Bone Sword and Alien Egg bits from Secret Weapon exclusively for use with my Tyranids.

Thanks for the kind words and the purchases

The 6x6 was actually designed years ago by a 3D artist who hadn't heard of 40k. He's been one of my favorite concept guys for a long time and we started working together to bring this to market. Although I'm glad that it appeals to the 40k community it was never done specifically to get a piece of that pie. If it were I certainly would have made it an APC or gone with something more Russ like. Better money there

Disarray wrote:I think I've finally found me some looted wagons...

YES! Take two, they're small.

Unfortunately not. I'm also reluctant to show pics of the bits on GW models given how litigious they can be. I'd be happy to check it out for you though -- drop an email to my user name @secretweaponminiatures.com and I'll see what I can do.
