I voted for LL before anyone tries to put 2 and 2 together
EDIT: And a month seems fine. We might see a slowdown in votes coming up to it (I think locclo got all the people who tend to drift through the Fiction forum ) but we'll see how it goes.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Just for a bit of fun here's what little i got written for this compo. It's a universe i have been slowly constructing over a year or so, though this snippet gives little away. I mainly abandoned this as i had an idea for a better plotline and this starting bit didnt suit it.
Spoiler:
'You are looking at the face of God'
The Ruiner turned to the Youngster, not enough to make eye contact but enough to address. The grim profile of a smirk evident in the gesture. Briefly the veteran warrior was coronated by a steamy exhalation of the beast. Enough to regain his attention as he continued.
'God made them In his image, not us'
It was strange seeing the creature in bondage, prostrate and defeated, when not an hour before it was soaring above the evergreens, inviolate and lethal. It's great head was an unmoving mass of hardened keratin, Hewn, not sculpted over generations. The boys face was a fleshy expression of awe, passed down from a lucky ape. He locked eyes with it for a moment, the beast's pupils shrank as the blue irises angrily strangled them. All gathered felt the apprehension as the Tybeuk made to speak.
'You End me....'
It's voice was a metallic blast across a reed, inhuman to the peak.
'But you do not end my line, My sire will kill you, my sire will eat you and surely they will s**t you'
*For those even remotely interested my tybeuks (tie-beaukes) (i made the name up, no reference here) are sorta a giant crow/insect/dragon visually.

I like that snippet, but I feel the curse word at the end is a little out of place, it just doesn't fit how the Tybeuk seems to speak.

@Perksutin , Intriguing.. like the idea that another race is made in gods image and we are just the lucky evolutionists.
Veteran warrior sounds a little cliche. Would interested to read more about this universe.

We've still got over 3 weeks until closing and we've only had 13 votes. I know there are more than 13 people on Dakka!

I'm going to vote once I read all of the entries and accurately assess which one is the best, despite my obvious bias. Speaking of my bias, can someone tell me how I'm doing in the contest? Hopefully I'm not losing too bad.

You're second on 3; Locclo is winning with 6, Sparks is 3rd with 2, and Chaos Emperor and me are joint 4th on 1. Shadow, Vroknar and ThePride have yet to be voted for.

Has it run out yet? Is it possible for LL or myself to get 2-3 or 3-4 votes respectively and draw 1st or take first from Locclo? Or is 20 votes the most we can expect and is Locclo the clear winner?

Thanks. You can check out the link in my sig if you want to read more. The story for the contest was essentially an origin story for one of the characters in the main storyline. Even if I've only got two chapters up, I'm always working on it - I just don't sit down and write much (mainly due to Steam sales) at the moment. Suffice to say that story only explored a very, very small part of the universe as a whole.
