The game and rules still function the same regardless...

Play some games and enjoy it. If you get excited about the game you just might find yourself getting excited about painting. And if you don't? It isnt a deal breaker...

Indeedy! Though I've heard rumour that when a Gamer paints his last figure...he dies. So always good practice to leave one or two nekkid!

I need serious motivation to start painting, but tend to enjoy it when I do. I've got a load of Hammer films to watch, so might break out the brushes tonight.

screw it. I force myself to paint when I don't want to. Even if its just one or two models partially painted. Eventually I get over the dread of it, realize its not so bad and get back into it. I don't even do the whole model, I just splash half of its basecoat on, and the next day the other half, then Add colors on top of that and before I know it I'm almost done.

I think most people just don't want to get stuck up on all the little details and thats why they lose interest in painting so quickly, because if it wasn't for the details, the models would fly to completion

Hello fellow modeller,
Mate, my heart pumps green ork ichor just thinking about losing interest in painting! My advice is to try a few conversions, that way each model that you paint is an original while also being a personel stamp of individuality.
Best of luck.

Comprising of newly promoted neophytes, sergeants, and vets from the Chapter's inception. Exploiting all of the advantages which arrise out of stealth-work, the'Belt Notchers' are,in their own right a terror weapon and the mere hint, whisper or rumour of their deployment has been enough to quell many an uprising.

What do you guys do when you lose your passion? Does it ever come back? I spent a lot of money getting started on the hobby so I don't really want to give up completely.

I just look at awe inspiring FULLY PAINTED armies on the tabletop.

Please mate, also just imagine how horrible your army will look all unpainted. I have been doing this for 3 months and I have only ever fielded an unpainted model once. Just think how bad it looks and how depressing it is.

Just try it.

seriously when you start em just crack on regardless, put something on in the background you can listen to and paint away, you'll soon get back into it.

a lot of people mix what they're painting so to break up the tedium, i.e. i'm painting a unit of men at arms, in between that i'll paint a knight or two aswell so i keep it fresh, i don't sit doing one unit/model for too long.

If the alternative is to sit watching telly, do both.

I've not painted for a while, as my painting gear has moved to the dining room, out of earshot of the TV. Whenever I start painting, my Missus calls me in to see something, and I have to get into the swing of painting again. ;(

I totally understand where you're coming from. I've hated painting pretty much since I got out of high school. The list of things I could be doing instead of painting that I would derive more pleasure from is almost limitless.

I have two fully painted 40K armies. I'd really like to convert my DE to all the cool new minis, but the thought of having to paint them really puts me off. I'm unfortunately not financially well off enough to pay someone to paint them for me.

I just came into possession of a 3000 point Khorne flavored DoC army for fantasy. I'm really thrilled to have it, as it's very interestingly converted, but I have to admit that I cannot possibly be less interested in painting those 100 or so models.

Something else to try is have multiple armies to paint at the same time. A lot of what drains my enthusiasm is painting that main colour again and again. And again.
