They were green in Fighting Fantasy (similar era) also IIRC.

Orks being green seems to be coded into our minds

There is an awful lot more taken from Moorcock's work as most obviously the concepts of Law and Chaos - themselves probably themselves taken up from some of Poul Andersons work.

I've always been under impression that Warhammer Fantasy borrowed from Glorantha (RuneQuest world) whichs' concept of Chaos is externally quite similar. Of course, Greg Stafford (Glorantha's designer) probably borrowed from Moorcock.

Some even claim that Blood Bowl is simply a ripoff from Trollball (a Gloranthan game), though developers have denied it.

Mr Vetock, give back my Multi-tracker!

Back in the day, GW was laughing along with everyone when they made a Margaret Thatcher model (Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka) or lizardmen characters named Hoertzalotl... I just discovered that in the Battlefleet Gothic Rulebook, the Tyrant class cruiser is made by Hyus N'dai....

Those aren't the only ones.
The Lizardmen are full of punny names.

There is an officer in the BFG universe (a commodore) called "64" (well, vier-und-zwanzig).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
