The results from the last four tournaments disagree, minimum kill points Ive brought to the second day was 19. I did say some of Gregs ideas were playable but with the majority of the 5 games objective based games (2 of 5 and 1 of 4) gives MSU mech spam too easy a ride if kill points are not counted. As has been said its a mute point as the second day is secret objectives.

My PROXYS would just be Necron warriors to Immortals. (They'ed be in Night Scythes, but the Night Scythe model isn't out yet)

If Sean allows your proxies , you can borrow my 4 Valkyries or just their bases if Night Scythes are on large oval flying bases ( for a price )

I'll take you up on that offer, if i'm
A) allowed to come (don't see why i wouldn't be, but my dad can be an arse)
and B) Sean allows my list

I’m sorry you think I’ve unconsciously skewed the missions I’ve suggested in my favour.

Games: 1, 2, 3 and 5 are directly out of the 5th edition rulebook. The only variation is the judge placing objectives in Game 3.

Game 4 is taken out of the 4th edition rule book and I believe it was used in blog wars here in the UK last week.

4 out of the 5 missions I listed are the type of thing all 40k players should be familiar with. I don’t understand how they could be unbalanced.

As for things like night fighting, placing objectives on top of ruins etc. These are things you would encounter playing a generic game of 40k on any day of the week, why would you want them ruled out in a tournament setting when they are part of the game?

Following Shaun’s post this discussion is now moot, but I am curious as to peoples opinions on these missions. Specifically whether you think they are balanced or not and if you believe they are unbalanced what you would do to change them/run in their place?

Thanks

Greg

No wires are crossed, we're just having a heavy debate on Warhammer Mission Types and Deployments.

Im sure we can all have a debate without it turning into World War 3.

Whatever the games turn out to be, we'll still thinks its awesome.

Deployment missions?...

Well im open to them by I know a new person coming to the event who you may need to explain the missions to since he dose not have a rulebook nor codex (however I can provide him with the codex he needs if ima using my orks).

as for night fighting? I personally do not like night fighting as I think even the lowest gaurdsmen has nightvision in-built to his helmet or a xeno organism will have adapted to see in the dark.

Whatever happens it will be an awesome tournament.

Aye, he has the models and knows the rules very well, he will just need a run through the missions IMHO.

I do say, i'm not partial in partaking in the nights flabbergastering and lollygagging.

Night fighting will almost certainly be part of the next tournament because of the rules Imotekh brings to the field. So you should consciously try and learn them so you are not disadvantaged if you face him.

I am very interested in what these secret missions are going to be!

Meh im not bothered by certain armys using the rules but if all armys played the mission they would bring in certain wargear to make this guys rule inaffective.

Like search lights?
Or do you have something else in mind?

Nothing can stop Imotekh getting night fighting on the first turn. It only stops when the necron player chooses or he doesn't roll the required result to keep it going. Necrons can also manipulate night fighting with solar pulses.

Searchlights, black sun filters, they are ways round night fighting and I have already considered the night fighting rules and how they might be applied and have figured they probably ain't worth it !!!!
Well they might be but I'm wont go tonto and say something like the game is fought in a blizzard or sandstorm where it's impossible to use such optics !!!!

Yeah the do mitigate the effects to be fair. They aren't full proof though.
I don't think it should be played in the missions since not many people know how to play it, but some people may be forced to play it, if they face a necron army. So I was just warning people that they should learn how to play night fight

Hang on no rule book or codex !!!!!!
What the hell does he know the rules cause in this tournament I will turn to physical violence if I'm constantly having to gee people along
And as for proxys warriors as immortals I can handle (list will be checked with fine fine comb) !!!! As for nightscythes I will let you use the flying bases as Hesh suggests but no other proxys you can't use a monolith and ghost ark or anything like that that will be pushing it !!!!

Bede its on the deployment rules so I'm not taking it out and people should learn how to use them (me included hate maths!!!!)
But I know some FNG won't know them so they will learn them I suggest they practice now !!!

It was 50/50 as to whether I replied to your post because I get the view some people think its heated. Certainly isn't in my case and I think also yours. Its actually sad that its viewed that way on this website as if the same topic had come up across the gaming table I doubt anybody would think that.

Sir#67 wrote:I’m sorry you think I’ve unconsciously skewed the missions I’ve suggested in my favour.

Look again thats not what I said. I later pointed out it would be better for several of us, I only said it suited your playing style. Who says your style is the correct way to get a win
Sir#67 wrote:Games: 1, 2, 3 and 5 are directly out of the 5th edition rulebook.

They are not directly out the rulebook. Your defining the number and/or placement
Sir#67 wrote:are the type of thing all 40k players should be familiar with. I don’t understand how they could be unbalanced.

I dont think they are not balanced for serious tournament players like You, Me and Bede amongst others but we make up less than a quarter of those that play in it. A quick scan through the topic would show this I hope.
Sir#67 wrote:why would you want them ruled out in a tournament setting when they are part of the game?

I gave my opinion, so did others. My opinion was from my own tournament experience and playing the players at GOW on a weekly basis. Your opinion is equally valid but we dont have the same gaming background.

Why dont Me, You, Bede and anybody else who wants to play meet up at GOW and over a couple of weeks play your scenarios. This will allow others to make an informed decision on the pro's and cons of them.

And again for the hard of thinking its not a heated debate if it was I would end each sentence with "GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

There are no special scenarios as it were nothing that won't take 5 min to explain on Sunday morning
