Lost my attention at the generic line-of-armor deployment.

You also noticed that! It seems to make the shooting across the barren, windswept plains easier.

As always Mercer, great report.

As someone who attends a club with a lack of 40k terrain I have also often found myself in this situation. However, I doubt a plethora of terrain could have aided that Tyranid list; it's far too mismangled to expect to go up against anything but serious-casual armies.

Please keep your reports coming, I most certainly find them helpful and look forward to reading them when they're relesed!

Iranna.

we have enough terrain at the club iranna its when we play on wednesdays that we are on a barren world. yes i think a little more terrain could be added but great battle report quite entertaining to read. i really like that battle in a box terrain

So on a board with no los blocking terrain and almost no terrain on the middile at all, you forgot it was nightfighting on turn 1 in DOW and blast his fastest moving assault unit off the table with 48" range guns? The Bug players only chance was to survive turn 1 with nightfighting as cover, but you denied him that. Why post the report when such a huge mistake was made to make the game even more lopsided? Whose ego is getting fed here?

Yes he forgot something, many of us do forget Night Fighting, would it really have mattered when he had Searchlights on the dreads anyway? I guess some of the English people here have been to Warhammer World in Nottingham (looking at you mercer), they have a similar amount of terrain as was played there, it seems perfectly adequate especially if the open areas were used as area terrain.

Yes you tabled him, but most of us could probably tell that just from the army lists, so what? So long as the other guy wasn't put off by it and enjoyed it and learnt from it, mercer gave him advice and is looking forward to watching him get better and helping him on his way. Although I don't like advice for the perfect 'jump on the bandwagon Tervigons and Hive Guard list' you kept his theme of Genestealers etc.

Thanks for the batrep, it was enjoyable and I look forward to the next one.

Nice write-up! You should rematch him with a similarly casual list

Good report mercer even if it was a seal. Sometimes our opponents just are. As for terrain on the board I usually try to match what I would see at a GT. So even though I am an IG player I try to put a healthy amount on the table. In addition, I let my opponents know in advance if I am bringing a GT level list. This usually helps mitigate any surprises where a casual build hits a power build.
