That is to say, someone's gotta carry it, whether that's a capillary tower, a swarm of Rippers or just masses of Warriors diving head-first into a digestion pool.
After an invasion is over, all biomass, including that of the swam that invaded is liquefied and digested into the leviathan hive-ships by giant feeder tendrils. Also, just because it hasn't been seen doesn't mean it doesn't exist. In military shipping, we have large fuel transports that offload on the high seas while in transit by crane nozzles... whats to say Tyranids haven't evolved something similar?

I was more thinking along the main "fleet" the ones we have seen are more likly something like a scout or pathfinders for the main hives. If most of the "race" is in transit, then you would need alot of bio-mass. They could have stored it up or simply been eating the lesser ones in transit.
There's also been no proof of eating lesser transports. So that leads us to speculate they are highly adept at energy saving, as we already know the fleets go into hibernation between long distances of feeding.
