Nope. Fluid Ounce is a measure of volume. Ounce is a measure of weight. They're two entirely different things.

The only thing they have in common is that they are 1/16th of something else (1/16 of a pound for ounce, 1/16 of a pint for fluid ounce). Unless you're in Britian. Their fluid ounces are smaller than ours, and there's 20 in their pint (which is larger than our pint).

I was talking about a Liquid ounce (Not fluid, my mistake on the wording) VS a dry ounce. it weighs the same no matter what form it is in.

An ounce of Sugar weighs an ounce.

An ounce of water weighs... an ounce...

So right back at ya with the

In my game room playing Specialist GW games

I always figured they used inches because they knew when they got older and their sight went bad it would be easier to see inches than centimeters (sp?)

It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."

it's still just as arbitrary and irrational as imperial units.

This is a load of gak. The metric system is based on the mass of water and is not arbitrary at all. 1m^3 of water weighs 1000Kg and freezes at 0 degress celcius. 1mL of water weights 1gram etc etc. Also the Newton is measured in metric units (Kg*m^2*s^-2) as are all SI units. The imperial system is based on some random measurements some dude thought was a good idea many years ago. If something good happens this century it will be that the entire world switches to metric.

Also a pound is the same measurement for weight and mass? That just crazy.

There is no such thing as innocence, only varying levels of guilt.

Which would mean that half the world would crawl to nothing as factories are up and you'd lose near 1/2 of the worlds productive power, along with a huge loss of $$$ due to the fact that they'd be forced to suddenly change out.

Half the worlds productive power? You clearly know what you are talking about. I know that an instant change would screw things up that why I said this century.

The Chinese still use their own system of Imperial Measurement

The Chinese inch was a non metric measurement used in China. One Chinese inch in 1 inches 0.762 American inches. In the SI system 1 metre is equal to 30 Chinese inches, or 39.37 American inches.

Not just Americans and the British. Not only that but much of the Asian market as well.

I believe it is about three countries in the world that does not have officially adopted the metric system.
The US being the only one with any kind of significance as the UK have indeed adopted the metric system,
And even in those countries military and scientist do use the metric system.

Look it up.

No need. I know it's true.

Anyone in the US who thinks the imperial system is superior needs to go to MIT, Caltech, NASA etc. and ask why they use metric.

I think that person would claim them to be unpatriotic liberals!
