And purplefood, Christians aren't really supposed to do those things, be it drink, drugs, violence toward others, they are all against the Bible.

But you know nothing about canonical hermeneutics, Jon Snow!

The Catholic Church doesn't beleive in a literal interpretation of the scripture, but that all canon texts must be actualized through the filter of God's love for his creatures.

And yet, they are quick enough to jump on people not condemning homosexuality, while going far out of their way to protect pedophiles, within their own organization.

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.

Can of worms, meet can opener.

You'll note that the Church tries to justify their position by saying that every human being should, by themselves, conform to the wishes of God, because those wishes are for the best. They don't claim that God will send a fiery rain on San Francisco, because that's what's written on the subject of Gomorrah. That story is taken to mean only that homosexuals won't be judged in the same way by God. I know it's all just sophistry, but at the very least, it evolved since the 9th Century. If the Church wanted to go dig for a more violent rhetoric, such as ' TO THE FIRES OF HELL WITH THEM!!!', they could, and they still would have followers. I know it's not much of an excuse, but when you compare to a hell of a lot of protestant organisations, it's already of a lot better.
