You've done nothing wrong here, nothing at all. With the possible exception of neglecting to tell TFG to cram it up his ass.

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and erase all doubt.

It's the free market you have to go where you find the best price tell them if they want you to shop exclusively at their store they need to cut you a better deal than ebay.

I would just not say allot about buying stuff off ebay while you are at the store to help keep TFG quiet on the subject.

Not being able to be proud of where you legitimately got your minis is like saying I can't brag a bit about the two 2,000pt+ armies I was freely given by a guy getting out of the hobby--What....I should have turned him down to "support my LGS?"

It's okay to be an atheist.

If you go to a church and start bragging about being an atheist... then you're a douche.

At least that's how I see it.

There is no perfect rule because for every rule there will be exceptions. Just do your best to make sure your not being a donkey.

Your FLGS can only stop you playing for using models that aren't from the GW chain. You're using the Citadel models, so this should be fine.

If it's a local game store and not part of a chain they can deny you entrance to their store or impose a rule that armies played their must be purchased 100% from the store, generally that would be a stupid idea but they legally could.

Bragging about getting models off of ebay is ok, doing it at a store that sells the product makes you look bad to the people at the store because it looks like you play there but wont spend your money there.

Pay where you play. I can see getting a few models from eBay or whatever, but if your budget is that screwed up right now, Warhammer may not really be the hobby for you.

Stores can't live off of people purchasing paints and brushes and glue alone.

On moon miranda.

Always try to support your local store (it's what keeps your community alive after all and provides a place to play). However, buying off ebay or picking up a sweet deal outside of your local store is nothing to feel bad about. There is nothing wrong about that at all and your local store should understand this. Ignore TFG's, they are what they are, irrelevant.

That said, avoid making a big deal out of scoring stuff on ebay, as while your local store should understand and accept that it will of course happen, they don't want people making a big deal about how they get everything way cheaper elsewhere either.

This is just like any other thing in life, it boils down to two things; always in moderation and always tactfully. As a former store employee, I personally had no problem with it, barring the obvious circumstances: if someone is thinking of buying a box set and you walk up to them and say "Hey I got that off eBay fully assembled and primed for half that" then you will probably get the boot. In fact, in most circumstances I would usually go against TFG and remind them they don't know the other person's situation. Extending their logic, anyone who moves to a different store should sell all their stuff and buy it all over again from the new store. And to be honest about it, if you don't say anything how will they know.

I personally would always buy certain items off eBay since they were simply not worth it, even with employee discounts. My biggest issue: most transport vehicles. If a model's dollar cost is more than its points cost, then somebody forgot to put the lid back on their super glue.

Of course you cheapskate!! How dare you take a free army and want to play it at the LGS instead of buying the full army from the LGS instead.

Tongue firmly in cheek and most definitely one of my points in this thread.

Actually a LGS can stop you playing for whatever reason they feel like imposing on people who play in their store. They are the owners and make the rules. If the rules suck and people don't like them then the rules will change or everyone will play elsewhere. A local store owner is free to make up whatever rules he likes...

So because someone needs to find cheaper prices to purchase minis they aren't allowed in the hobby anymore? I agree that you need to pay where you play, and make consistent purchases to support any store that you play in, but that doesn't mean that the store gets to dictate what you can and can't purchase from them. What is the difference if you buy $50 of paints, or $50 of models and paints? It is still a $50 purchase...

I didn't say they weren't allowed, lol. Warhammer or any miniatures game by nature is NOT A CHEAP HOBBY. Perhaps it is best sometimes to wait until you're more financially stable to do it right. Nowhere did I say that a store gets to dictate anything, either. All I'm saying is stores rely on big army purchases. Please don't put words in my mouth to support your faux-argument.

If you buy $50 worth of paints then I think you're probably much different than any other player I've ever met... nobody purchases that much paint at once. And the paint lasts them for years...

Apologieis...wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, your post just came across to me as more smug than you intended apparently.

Last 2 times I bought paint I spent over $200 each time building up my paint selection by buying multiple paint sets. Haven't bought much since, though I have to admit.
