Then I have no answer. It should be impossible for a company with the amount of stock held and real estate owned to be valued at so little, but it doesn't automatically mean there's not a valid and legal reason behind it.

I agree, without insider knowledge no-one can say for sure what state they are in. My view is that they are in trouble - but I am happy to admit that they could be healthly. The information I have though is suspicious at best, damning at worst.

well, they are moving warehouse so they can have more stock on hand; and if they have more stock presumably they still have credit lines with suppliers? so we'll see what their stock levels are come end of September / October after the move.

Don't Maelstrom own Banebeasts & Banelegions? Last time I looked at the packaging for them, they were now made by a company called Mercia miniatures. Are they part of Maelstrom or a new company?

Please stop with the idea that moving warehouse is cheap or easy. I didn't even go over the annoyance of small items that you can't pack on a palette in my post.

Or having to setup their inventory system, test, transfer data, and test again at the new warehouse.

As for the work being done on minimum wage, no. Just no. If labor hire in the UK is done on minimum wage there is something wrong. Labor is one of the more expensive things you can hire (at least here, and rightly so). Especially if you do it on a weekend like many would to avoid distribution disruption.

Once again, not saying moving is necessarily the reason for the clearance, just stating some facts. It is cheaper to sell the stock than move it.

I've done parts picking, stocktake, parts sourcing, defective returns, and various other little warehouse odds and ends. On top of a consolidation of 3 warehouses into a new site (all at once). Believe me when I say that warehouses are never as simply as they appear on paper. No matter how you revise your maths, it is always going to be cheaper to sell the stock than move it.

Whether it is profitable to do so is an entirely different argument dependent on their profit margins. Which I don't know, and don't care to speculate on.

Please don't read this as me trying to bite anyone's head off. I just want to put the nail in that coffin since it isn't correct. I know because of my learnings.

EDIT REASON: Stupid sticky keys. Missed punctuation. And a missing letter? >.<

Good warehouse employees start at minimum wage + 25-50%. Expect to pay double minimum wage if you want to keep someone truly excellent. The big box retailers like Home Depot or Walmart are welcome to try to pay theirs minimum wage, but they don't get to keep the good ones doing that.

Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

If you get a good warehouse employee, you hold onto them and never let them go. A single good person in the lead can make decent use of even the worst gaggle of idiots. They are worth every cent invested down the line when you have less stock discrepancies, fewer botched pickings, and money saved through good management and relationship with your transport. Even better when they are the kind of person that preempts potential CS problems and informing the CS staff of it.

And if you are the person in the warehouse that deals with the transport, please be kind to your Transports customer service reps. You will get much better service in the long run than if you are one of those people that threatens to pull the account every time they can't meet your (at times unreasonable) demands.

I worked in transport too, so once again I know because of my learnings.

Me I'm hoping they have another row with Battlefront and shift their entire FoW stock again.

I placed an order a few weeks ago. Over a week ago they split my order - probably the stuff that was in stock. No news since then. I also ordered some stuff that was actually in stock almost a week ago using the newer code. Again, no movement.

fyi, they updated my order status only 5 days after it was actually shipped. I know others had the same thing happen; maybe it's standard for them.

Hopefully they shipped right when they split you order.

According to this they owe (in April 2011) almost all of the assets to creditors. Gulp If those assets aren't liquid they are in the cr*p. Oh hang on they are buildings and stock.

Apparently it sat around for another week, before they split off more of the stuff. That's stuff that was in-stock when I ordered it weeks ago but somehow went out of stock in the three weeks between me ordering it, paying for it, and them (apparently) sending it out. Guy on the phone yesterday said that some of it was sent out a couple of days ago.

I'll just hope they ship all my stuff before they go out of business. Good thing I always pay via PayPal. I'll check my dates and get some refunds going before it hit 45 days.

Would that document also be including a mortgage or the full value of a lease as owed to creditors? Owing a few hundred thousand pounds isn't that bad if it includes a mortgage.
