Alright, I got to admit, this is probably the more financially friendly way of making my Calidorian Pioneer company, just switch the red with green and do different heads, not overly fond of the bearskins.

From the Darkness you shall rise, from Death you shall come ! Revive ! Revive ! Reviiiiive !!

I think that is the right procedure to resurecting a thread from the dead, right ?

Well 2 years since I last updated this poor blog, 2 Years !
Alot has happened since my last update as you could imagine, I have continued to progress through my projects and even started new ones. The biggest been well over 100 LOTR models...

So where I last left off was the build progrress on my Highlander Command Squad, well they are painted and finished here they are !

I am rather pleased with them I'll get a full army shot for my next update so we can see how these burly chaps look combined !

And something I have had on the bench for many years I finally got to complete only recently too, my Moebius Battlestar Galactica.
This is a fantstic model I bought the upgrade set which includes newer versions of her guns and the museum window on the flight deck, she is completely hand painted !

I recently got the Battlestar Pegasus form the same company and is to scale of Galactica, she is all primed up and ready for painting. I recently got an airbrush so I will be using her as my first attempt as it will be relatively easy to do (Alot of grey)

Well thanks for tuning in folks !
Updates to follow

*Edit* I have just noticed the text going a bit funny on the images. I will correct this for future uploads. PS I have decided to go with a new way of presenting my images, how is it ?

I'm digging the men Wolf, I was considering doing something similar, but more praetorian then cadian. Got the arms and torso's, even found some heads I like by a company called woodbine design miniatures, but legs are the issue, I could always get the Victoria miniatures kilted legs, but I am a cheap man. Any suggestions?

Hey thanks

If you are considering just normal trouser'ed legs I just use normal Chadian legs and trim down the pockets with a craft knife. Kilts I would suggest the Victoria miniatures ones, they are completely worth every penny.

Don't worry I am very cheap too every highlander model there is 90% second hand

Highlanders are looking good! And I've said it before, but that paintjob on Galactica is simply stunning!

Evening everyone

Today I have some goodies for you guys to look at, as promised I have put my Highlander Guardsmen together for an army shot.

I am really pleased with them all, really makes me wanna expand on them even if I don't play 40k anymore. I have some real neat ideas for some Highlander Scions...

Following up with my Battlestar Galactica model I thought I'd show a WIP shot of Battlestar Pegasus. The below photos are to show the sheer size difference between them, the first photo shows the main hull, the second shows one of Pegasus' Flight pods... It truly is the Beast.

I had to wait for some replacement turrets to come as when I had left it to dry when I was priming it someone had knocked it over and some of the guns had broken beyond repair. However now they have arrived I can get back to work on this

Now here is something I am proud of, my Fellowship of the Ring. Ever since the LOTR films and models came out I always wanted a fully painted Fellowship. A combination of Lack of funds and loss of interest stopped me for a long time but last year I was able to realise my dream and I put all my painting skills to work on these. Which is your favourite ? Mine personally is Gandalf I will love that model forever !

Finally something that may not look like much but is a major step into improving my painting skills. My first ever Airbrushed miniature, granted I just Primed it but this was the first time I have used my Airbrush and I feel it went very well.

This little model is the first step onto the road of Airbrushing. I intend on Airbrushing the majority of my Pegasus model and another laaaarge Project which I will reveal when Pegsus is almost complete !

Thanks for looking,
and as always Comments, and feedback is always welcome !

Good stuff! Always nice to see the Fellowship, especially painted that well, and with what's probably the best Gandalf as well (of the eleventy-billion variants they've done between LotR and The Hobbit, I think only the hatless Moria one comes close to that one).

Can't wait to see The Beast get some paint!

Hey everyone,

Sorry for my disappearance, I've been rather busy at work and haven't had much chance to sit down and some some honest hobbying.

Today I have a little Fire Drake me and my friends call Smug...

He is called Smug as a play on the mighty name Smaug, aslo he is just looks very smug.
I slapped the auto contrast on this images as I felt it picked out a few more details than the original.

Now things have settled down a bit back home I will be picking up from where I left off with Pegasus and a few other bits and bobs.

Thanks for looking,
Wolf

I might have got my wires crossed, but I thought I recalled you mentioning getting a full-size Smaug a while ago... Smug reminded me of that, and it certainly fits the 'big' criteria...

Interesting theory, in my next update I shall plant some hints for you ;D

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Update time, woohoo !

Good evening, today been one of my few days off work I popped the Airbrush out again and began colouring The Beast, Battlestar Pegasus.

I had a few issues with the right mixture of thinner and paint but eventually I got it to a place i think works for me. you may notice some over spray from the darker areas and I will be going back to fix these up tomorrow.

Quick question, Is it possible to spray inks or similar media using an air brush ?
Or what would be the best way to create the same effect as a wash with an airbrush ?

And with the recent(ish) release of the BFG:A multiplayer beta (which I have been throughly enjoying !) I thought I would pay hommage to BFG with a Fleet shot of all my completed ships, I want to revist the Escorts and Cruisers and update them to the battleships.

Also I have a new addition for my fleet, a 3d printed Endeavour class Light Cruiser from Shapeways. It's a fantastic model, very detailed and is an accurate representation from the artwork.

So stay tuned for tomorrow I shall carry on with airbrushing or hand painting Pegasus and maybe some other goodies too...

Oh ! Can you see the not so hidden clue for my big project ? What could it be ?

Thank you very much ! It's so good to hear people say they enjoy looking at my models and even find them motivational

So I decided I wanted to do a different approach with the Pegasus model, I went back over all the armour plating lines with the dark grey and begin to highlight the armour with the original grey colour. this was an attempt to add some depth to the model.
Here is a progress shot showing how it looks so far:

Overall I think it's looking better than it did, and I will definitely be going back over with a brish to neaten it up properly.

What do you guys think looks better ?

And wiith this model been my first real airbrush work so far, how am i doing for a frist timer ?

Cheers
Wolf

Looks fantastic, pretty much the perfect tone of grey, very practical/'normal' but with enough going on that it still looks interesting.

How are you finding using the AB? Does it take long to set up and get used to it?

Greetings once again, I hope you all had a great Easter weekend

Today I took a break from old Pegasus and began painting my plastic Kingdom death Kingsman.

So far I'm just working on the armour, while I try to decide what colours I want to do the cloak and the likes. I'm thinking a dark blue maybe a mix of reds.

I also recently got a hold of the beautiful model from kingdom death, The Black Knight!

Now for what I wanted to do with these models is to make a diorama ! What I have visualised in my head, is the the kingsman and a scribe type model towards the back with a beheaded corpse behind them. Towards the front of the diorama will be the black Knight marching towards a cowering person of some description on the floor. My initial thoughts for title is " A Traitors end" below is a real bad sketch to show my basic concept.

What are your thoughts on the overall idea of the diorama ? Any hints and tips for me ?

Cheers,
Wolf

Those are some awesome minis, I don't like a lot of the KD stuff but those are rather splendid. I reckon a rich purple cape with a white trim would offset that armour beautifully.

Diorama idea looks good, nice variation in height/size/spacing and not overcrowded.

Hey ho !

So Just wanted to show a little progress shot of the Kingsman, I followed Para's advice of the purple colour and it was definitely the right choice so thanks Paradigm !
The first set of Images was my first attempt at the purple colour. Admittedly i didn't blend very well and the highlights were just too harsh.

So I took to my newly purchased Vellejo Washes

I must say these are an absolutely fantastic product ! I used the grey on the armour plating to slightly dull the metallic shine and blend the highlights which has helped make the gold stand out some more. I am considering giving the gold a light wash too.

Anyway, I decided to use the red wash from this set on the cloak and it worked really well. It brought the brightness of the purple down and managed to blend the highlights together more and I'm really happy with the results

The difference in Picture colour tint was me playing around with the camera settings to try and show the colours accurately which I think it does... partially.

So excellent call Paradigm

Next will be more of this chap and some more Pegasus progress,

Cheers
Wolf

Lovely stuff, that purple has come out a treat! If you want the gold to really pop, use a very thin purple wash, it'll really give it a warmth and also tie it in with the cloak.
