Invasion, Deluxe Invasion, or Battle of Memphis are all equal points. $80, $110, $130. Pick your flavor!
I'm surprised no one is commenting on the US Army preview document they released. Including design notes from Rick Priestly. I gotta say it looks really cool and got me more excited.

Hey I was reading them!
After looking the packs over again, I suppose they are even. I guess my brain refuses to believe in looking at the "lower end" of packages. I'm just so tuned in to looking for the sweet spot for freebies/add-ons that I skip right into the $200+ stuff.
I'm really digging the Goliath and Iron Clad.

I've been a huge fan of 'War of the Worlds' since I heard Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the story. For that reason alone I would buy into the Kickstarter, but add in the fact that the models fascinate me and that Alien Dungeon has already hit a home run for me with 'Fanticide', and I cannot resist. I know they've been tweaking the game through playtesting, which is probably why the Game Play videos and Rules haven't shown up in videos and such yet. Though I understand why people want to see those things before investing a bit in the game, my philosophy is, by investing in the game, I give them time and resources to hone what they've got into bigger and better product Call it faith, but I believe in Ernie Baker, Alessio Cavatore, and Rick Priestley, and in Alien Dungeon. The thought that my little pledge could help make this game the huge success I expect it will be by December excites and thrills me To me, Kickstarter is about making dreams into reality, not just the models into plastic, but ideas into well crafted rules. It takes time and money to produce a good ruleset.
I know this crew won't let us down

True, not to mention an enthusiastic community that plays the game and provides feedback to the creators. Balance issues can ultimately only be solved when the public itself gets access to the game. Having a beta-version batrep would increase participation though, doesn't matter much to me, but if we are talking a large investment here, it may be necessary for a lot of folks to see some concrete gameplay.
However, you don't need to see the rules for this game to appreciate the models... there are many 15mm rulesets out there and many have rules for tripods, and the tanks also have many uses, people can always use the ruleset they like the most... lets face it everyone has their own style.

I'm kind of impressed how in 3 days AD has managed to get me to go from $80 to $130 to $260. The multiple pledge-tier stretch goals at the same time is pretty slick and hopefully once this hits 125K and people realize just how much extra gets thrown in at the $260 and higher levels, this KS explodes.

Yeah, there's a ton of freebies awaiting the higher funding levels. The presentation leaves a bit to be desired though, as it is confusing.

Yea, I've been looking at the $260 as it will be a ton of stuff. However the presentation of exactly what you gain isn't too clear. Mostly in the "all unlock from X level" part where if you are at that level, you have to choose between A or B. Does that mean at $260 I still have to choose A or B as if I pledged at a lower level, or do I get both A and B from that level? It's a good amount of stuff though.
I like the idea of the "buy more get more" goals.

ADs comments in update 22 are pretty clear it's both rather than a choice for the upper pledges. What seems to be confusing things is as soon as the question is answered and put to rest someone else asks again, creating more confusion. Hopefully they'll clarify the graphics a bit in the morning.

AD has just re-done their pledge levels to clear things up.
I think this is one that's just going to keep looking better and better as it goes on. They're working on a batrep video right now. And the more pledges that come in, the more awesome free items will be available.

So it's just either/or on that one, then, based on that update? I'm not following closely enough to really know.
As of this moment, though, I would say this campaign reminds me of some that baffle me a bit, and I think is a Kickstarter phenomenon. It has doubled it's funding goal, it's ALREADY successful, but folks really want it to go higher.
Sometimes, I think it is better for campaigns not to get too high... it becomes a bigger and bigger challenge to follow through the more money that is brought in and freebies that are given away.
If you had told me before this launched that it would END at 100K, I would have thought that to be incredibly successful. With it over 100K now, I think it is a success, and doesn't need to skyrocket (and likely won't, with the progress today and the usual slowdown in the middle of these things).
If it passes 200K by the end, that will be great, but it doesn't need to go up a dime more to have been a big success, imo.
Just my $0.02

From the force disposition pic, These are dark days indeed, I say. the US is in Mexico, Canada is in the US, Britian is in the caribean, and some bloody way or other, Germany and France have been teleported to south america! ….and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, WHAT IS THAT THING COMING FROM VENUS!? P…p….PURGE. BURN. anyways, I'm happy to see this suceed, as I love wierd wars in 15mm, and along with my monsters from Fantasy Flight, I can see this turning into a "Humanity VS absolutley everything setting" Bring on the Retro Grim Dark. It reminds me a bit of Dreamforge's Kickstarter with the way it's playing out. Good start; got a little confusing and stalled;, stretch goals properly adjusted and poised to move forward. I've noticed that the KS's where the owner is extremely flexible and involved tend to have a bit more trouble after the opening days. Striking a fine balance between generating excitement and trying to accommodating everyone seems to cause more than a few missteps. I'm glad AD has been able to pull it back together.

Yeah, recent update clarified everything. Just look at what you're pledging for and look at the chart and you get that free crap, haha. I'm really looking foward to this.

The owner Ernest Baker and the staff stand apart in the industry in an impressive way. Priestly and the rest of them have been doing this for decades, and are working purely from the heart now doing the games THEY want to make and play. It seems full creative and poetic licence at this point is their reward for years of service and answering to others.
On the Alien Dungeon forum the owner / creator Ernie regularly dialogues with members, offering anything from painting tips to assistance with rules. Almost unheard of these days.
If the rules and structure of Martian Front is as good as the system for their first game Fanticide (which is quiet different of course), we are in for a real fine ride.
I pledged $110 today, but may have to save some coffee money for the exclusive terrain piece as well.

I love the overall look of the figures, and have pledged in big time, with more waiting to go in as they put in some of the bigger items.
I think one of the things that stalled them at the start was that it is advertised as a 15mm game. While it is a 15mm (18mm game really) it also isn't...
The miniatures are HUGE! A 15mm tank that is 8" long!!! The tripods being 6" tall!!! Some of the other large items are even bigger!!! At 6" high each tripod is bigger than a 40k dread!
While rules are not out there yet, the crew creating them have a proven track record for games. Given that record, we can safely assume the game will work well from the start and given how much the Alien Dungeon crew has been interacting with the community so far it can only get better!
Please go take a look guys!
P.S. One thing I really love (a small thing admittedly, but one that bugs me to no end) is finally another game that doesn't just use D6's. Why oh why did we ever get stuck with such an odds-limiting die in most wargames. Here at least they are using a d10.

Cheap because they're super mass marketed dice.
Lesser stigma because they're not those weird D&D dice (You kids aren't playing that devil game are you?!!!).
Easy to find replacments/additions to your dice to actually play a game without going to a specialty vendor; you can pick up d6s at many convenience stores.
We now return you to the thread about cool Martian Front stuff

Much like Warhammer 40K is "heroic" 28mm, this game is "heroic" 15mm. As has been stated, some of the vehicles are huge and you really need to see them in action:

I'm in on this KS at the On The Front level and have added more for add ons. This game has great minis, responsive owners and a great team of writers. I'm vey excited about this game and hope we can hit the higher levels.
We're still waiting on more rule sets but so far the game play vids look good and the early descriptions and abilities of the forces work well too. Bring on the Land Iron Clads - over 1 foot long! Huge!
