How exactly does that refer to the question, whether Tau are resistant to Chaos?

It does not. Feel free to discuss that question further ignoring me if you feel that there is something more to add. I guess, that further discussion would be: that makes an individual more corruptable than then other? While I imply that all living beings can be twisted in body, I think that only a beings with a will and personality can be twisted in mind and that all beings that have it can be corrupted. For example, in ''Grey knights'' novel Lord of Change have threatened brother-captain to break him and to make him his servant via a virtue of his incomplete memory deletion and a character's trait, a fear of being the first grey knight to be corrupted. So yes, I think that all beings who have a personality and the will are suspectable to chaos corruption. If Tau's fans state otherwise, that means that an individual in Tau's society are reduced to a state of lobotomised servitor or in similar fashion to a level of grey knights or death troops of krieg.

The idea that there are only two kinds of men:
1.) Those that want to subjugate and succeed.
2.) Those that want to subjugate and don't succeed.
is flawed. The current Tau codex is open for more individuality, but this is where Tau (and most Tau fans) started:

No those arnt the ideas

The ideas are men who want to succeed by anyways possible.

The Tau want to elevate themselves into a position of power. They want to be the ones that shape the galaxy and unite the galaxy under the idea of the Greater Good. There is 2 ways to do this, either by forging a united front with multiple allies or by forging a powerful front through a vast away of resources.

The Tau are going for achieving success and power through a united allied front.

And your quote from the author supports what I said. The Tau would prefer to use diplomacy and manipulation to form an alliance instead of down right conquering them. However when they resist the Tau will conquer the planet and subjugate the people if they believe that not having that planet will make life difficult for them in the long run.
