Maybe it's because I'm a newer player but 40k seems right and fun to me

If you don't have issues with the rules, and if you're playing against people with the same mindset, 40k is absolutely fun.

I have only been playing for a couple of years and one of the things that attracted me to the game was the over the top feel of 40k. With all the new units like flyers and units like the riptide coming out the game has called out to me even more. I'm a tank fan and I love walkers they are some of my favorite models in the game. To me all these new units make the matches feel more like a small piece of a greater battle taking place.

I also like large tank battles.

However, I prefer to play FoW in 15mm, as this lets you field armoured COMPANIES and still have room left for tactical manouver.
And If I want massive sci fi battles in 6mm , Epic Armageddon, and Dirtside allow BRIGADE level battles on a kitchen table!

28mm minatures only really work for a large skirmish games IMO.(Unless you play outside in a car park!)

In order to sell more models they had to give you a reason to buy more models.

Hence why the game went from skirmish sized in RT and 2nd Edition to the watered down "mass" battle game it is now.

"You can play bigger battles now!"
"Wait, didn't you just cut the points in half and take out all the detailed rules to save time?"
"Shhh, not so loud."

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

The main draw of 40k so far is the fluff. I came for the fluff, stayed for the modeling. The game's just an added bonus honestly, although I may have a severe problem given that I have too many models to fit in my house and had to build a shack in the backyard rather than a swingset for my kids.
