The New Miss Macross!

A quick update since I created the thread...
I've basically been doing busy work and catching up on things that I didn't make the time for. As written above, the first thing I did was clean out the hobby area in the basement and get rid of almost two yard waste garbage bags worth of... well... garbage! I'm not sure why I thought I needed to save so many of the little foam inserts from various blisters as well as even alot of the blisters themselves (in the case of the Heavy Gear ones since they're reusable) but they're now gone. I somewhat organized my 40k bits roughly along army lines (although not completely... they're about 75%+ sorted which is good enough for me!)... I've worked on some terrain and picked up a cityscape set to finally host some games at home eventually. I've finished off updating my primary Heavy Gear army to 100% complete along with buying and finishing a second painted army for demos (that unfortunately was badly wrapped/padded and had 30+ breaks durinipping). I've bought and organized my x-wing collection as well as improved my custom Tantive scenario game aids for the upcoming league night now that wave 3 has been released to the public. All in all, I feel like I've gotten alot done even though I haven't actually gotten much playing in. My last few trips to the store have been rather disappointing with no one there to play the games that I actually wanted to play and have played instead some new games that were demo'ed (but weren't my particular cup of tea).
In the end, I'm not sure if it's been a subconscious effort but I still haven't gotten around to painting that "last" 40k fig. It's still sitting on my painting desk largely in it's black primer splendor looking at me every time I sit down to do something.

I've found I've stopped collecting (at least temporarily) due to lack of space to store the models, (I'm currently renting a room), and the fact that I'm so backlogged on painting I can't really justify buying anymore until I've got at least have my models painted.

I have sort of stopped 'collecting', primarily due to a between jobs cash squeeze and loss of a fat discount I had when I worked at a hobby store. So I have been finishing up painting things like my three killer kans that have been staring at me for 8 months now. Would love to add a few more GW models to my various armies, but I'm falling behind on getting updated codex and the new Apocalypse book, but they'll still be there when I get the bucks to spend on them. In the meantime, I have started building more terrain pieces using a bunch of leftover bitz that have accumulated. Just finished building an Ork Bomma rearming bunker with those giant bombz I had left over. Haven't quite figured out what to do with all the excess Eldar cannons I've got.
Also hope to play more games as I have always been more into the painting and conversions aspect. Finished a custom land speeder for Sammael of the Dark Angels a few months ago. My reality is that I have six overloaded 40K armies but some pretty cool models.
Think this means I'm still 'collecting'...

When I was a teenager I used to build every Tamiya Millitary kit I could get my hands on. Then around '78 I just stopped. The lady in my life said it was "childish" and I was too old for that. So I gave away the entire collection to the son of a friend of my mother's. It wasn't too hard of a break because there was a shiny new thing called Dungeons & Dragons that had MINIATURES which I already had the skills to paint, so there was no looking back.
But:
Back in '98 I was Christmas shopping and in Boscov's toy department i stopped dead in my tracks. Because there they had a 1/35 scale Academy Tiger I kit with full interior!
My holy grail. I had long admired the Tamiya 1/25 big scale Tiger with interior but never actually saw one for sale until one day while on vacation there was one in a shop for $100.00 - way too much to spend on a model. (in the '70s a heavy tank, 1/35 scale, cost about $10.00)
I bought that Academy kit. I still have it. I like to think that some day when I retire I will build it.
The point is, you never lose the bug. You may go to other things for awhile but if you really love doing something it will stay with you.

Ive tried to do this. I have too many minis to even comprehend. And yet I seem incapable of halting my purchasing of more minis and models. I struggle to walk past a model shop and not go in. However, the Goddess has chosen to help me-my local model store, Transport Models is closed till January, hence I have had the temptation of the shiny Mech kits within temporarily removed.
