In my opinion they are worth their points. 265 points to either take out a Leman Russ Squadron or a couple of Flyers is worth it. BS 3 is a pin in the ass, but I use the Swarmlord's Swarm Leader ability to give it PE

They are coming! I feel them scratching inside my mind, scratching, screaming, running, so many...so, so many voices. They're coming for us - flesh, body and soul!

BS3 is an even trade for Assault 2 on the rupture cannon. I have found that people who say the cannon isnt worth it arent moving the fex forward in games.

Really, the plan is the same as in 5e: you want as many threats landing on your opponent as possible on turn 2, so that he can't deal with all of them, and something gets through. Not being able to assault from outflank has lessened the threat that 'stealers provide, meaning you have to rely on infiltrating them, which isn't as good, but the odds of making your reserve rolls has gone up, which is better.
The problem is when you run into something like Venom spam, which not only HAS enough firepower to drop a large portion of your incoming threat, but also is mobile enough to simply avoid the rest.
May I suggest a Mycetic Spore for your DoM? Harasses the enemey turn 2, destroys their infantry if they have barricaded themselves up together and draws your opponents eyes from your main force. 20 Devilgaunts in Spore are also incredibly powerful and annoying, it will surely cripple something. Even Glance a few DT or LR to death!

I'm going to add to the chorus of people saying Nids are still good. It's just that army composition has changed.
Genestealers aren't the go-to option, anymore, but the little guys (Hormagaunts?) are still viable, and the Tervigon is an effective choice, because it can spawn troops. Whichever troops those are.
The Tervigon can also take Claws, and Iron Arm, making it formidable in CC. I personally watched a pair of Tervi eat Lysander and four Termis! Ouch.
Swarmlord is also a good choice now, with Iron Arm, FnP, and Frenzy, he may be slow, but there isn't much other people can do to make him go away.
In all, there are still effective choices, even without resorting to Flyrants and other tourney-proven options.

They're still workable, but you've got an unhealthy number of autotake units and a large number of "avoid like the plague" units. And also relying entirely on their HQ slot and board control for AA is less than ideal.
