Honestly, as long as it is a legal list, I will play it. However, as I read this thread, I regret that I am truly unable to get into the spirit of it, for alas, I will only run my 'nids, and we have no tanks. That being said, I am pretty sure that I could do something along the same lines with broods of Carnifexes. Or is that not the same? If not, we shall simply sit on the sidelines watching the tanks go by with signs that say, "Will nom for tank ride"

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Monstrous Creatures are Tyranid tanks. They fill the same kinds of roles. Carnifexes are weapon platforms, like Dreadnoughts. Tervigons are heavy transports (with a suitably Tyranid style of what unit is transported and how). Mycetic Spores are obviously drop pods. Tyrannofexes are heavy ranged support, like a Predator or Leman Russ (though at the moment not very points efficient). Trygons and Mawlocs are assault dreadnoughts (Furiosos or Iron Clads). Hive Tyrants are a lot like Dreadnoughts as well (weapon platforms) with a bunch of other stuff thrown in. Harpies are aircraft. Being MC's makes them all suitably dangerous in assault.

If someone wants to play an 'all tank' game, Tyranids perfectly acceptable response is to bring as many monstrous creatures as you can.

Too... many... tanks?

Is there such a thing?

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Tanks aren't what they used to be now flyers have been introduced, I used to run an armoured company (all ordnance russes) a few editions ago, came back to sixth and realised that list wouldn't work anymore. So now I mix it up with some dakka variants, which aren't as points efficient; less tanks :(. Or I add vendettas for a blitzkrieg style force.

what he means is that the armoured fists squad are a bit bad, but that is to be expected...

what i've done is allied the ABG to an ig army, i've still ended up with 5 odd leman russ @1800pts however, they've now got vets supporting them which has worked rather well i must say. Still, the troll of one game was the hydra flak tank, it seriously mowed down marines, much to our astonishment meanwhile my demolisher blew up an attack bike squadron in one shot

i just need to get the hang of placing my forces better thats all, a drop pod casused some havok, unitll i killed it and the contents in one shot.

though as long as the list is leagl people shoul dnot complain, its the wacky lists that cause many to rethink thier lists

To be fair stacking tanks is not really "wacky" its not funny and its not novel its the first thing most new players will think of when crafting a list. Ultimatly the answer to the OP's question is it depends, most of the time as many as you want is fine.

The real factor in what is acceptable and what is cheesy funspoiling depends on who you are playing, if you are in a tourney then the TO's rules are the only limit your opponent doesn't really get a say, in a cut throat hypercomeptative gaming group with cash to spend aslo feel free to go wild. If you however play with people who play with whatever comes in two basic box sets split between them and some filler from an old space crusade box then a wall of AV14 or transport spam parking lot is unlikley to be fun for both sides.

Make sure your list is appropriate for the enviroment, nothing says you can't play against babys first battleforce with the bakery but don't expect the crying 11 yr old you were supposed to be babysitting to want to play again, on the other hand if you are at Ard boyz and your opponent pulls out the spike rifles and pyrovores don't feel bad about the crying 34yr old when you table him.
