I played 2nd since it came out. Built a gaming group up to around 25 people. Had tournaments once a month. Giant paint marathons with beer and pizza.

3rd edition came out and everything went ultrabland. My entire group fell apart. GW actually sent us a playtest set of rules before the release. We told them it was crap and they told us they didn't need "old gamers".

When the Eldar book came out I flipped through it and asked a few questions. Then I did my best "just when Ithought I was out..." Pacino impression and bought it.

GW didn't mean to hit your wallet and I know they love you, baby. I'm sure they won't do it again so it's ok to purchase and make up.

Ah third edition, pop-up skimmer tanks. Loved it. People think Tau are annoying now with JSJ..... lol

Yes ! My best friend played eldar and my god how i hated this rule (in a love-hate kinda way). My most dreaded words from him while we played were "pop up attack.".

3rd was fun.

I mean, it's Dakka. I thought snide arguments from emotion were what we did here.

Jesus spot the marine players, 3rd ed was great if you played CSM, or Space Wolves or Blood Angels I suppose. Conversely the original assault rules were a mess and heaven help you if you wanted to play Imperial Guard. My memory of 3rd ed was just rhino rushes every day.

Do not forget the DE jumping you and leaping from assault to assault.
They were insane, I had to feed them a squad back away and then shoot them to death.
IG, they still were cheap and the Leman Russ was still a great thing to hammer the enemy.
