1) The shop.

2) November

3) 116 Years

4) Sheep?

5) Either: none, it was Noah's ark, or, none, the Bible is fictional. Selection depends on your outlook and opinion.

7) Albert.

8) 2, You just took them.

9) Not Canaries.

10) All of them, since they all have at least 28 days.

11) Yes, it's the 4th of July.

12) The match.

13) Both nectar and pollen, although the latter is not done intentionally.

14) Since it's the last one, I'm going to assume it goes against the grain and say 30 years.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

How about the Monty Hall problem?

You're a contestant on a game show, and you're given a choice of three doors - behind one door is a car, and behind the other two is goats. You pick a door, let's say it's door 1, and the host, Monty Hall, who knows what's behind the doors, opens one of the other doors, which he knows does not contain the car, and reveals a goat. Monty then asks if you want to swap away from your first guess, and to the other unrevealed door.

Should you swap to the other door?

Here's where you went wrong. 1/3 =/ 0.3333... It is an approximation. 1/3 is essentially not representable as a decimal, but can be approximated by saying 0.333. Just like you can't multiple 3.14 by 2 and say that 2Pi is 6.28. That's an approximation.

I'm quite right, actually. 1/3 is the same thing as 0.33333.....

I think people might be getting tricked by the lack of formatting going on. When people are typing 0.33333.... or something similar they're showing 0.3 recurring, with the line of 3s going on forever.

0.3 recurring, or 0.33333.... or however you want to show it is the same thing as 1/3.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

In a race, you overtake the person in 2nd place. What position are you now in?

The set of rational numbers agrees with sebster.

Yes. For complicated maths reasons - but only if the host knows which door the car is behind.

You always have a higher change if you swap on the second try. It's maths...

I read a book once. It was green .

Wikipedia, the source of all learned knowledge had this to say.

The correct answer, that players who swap have a 2/3 chance of winning the car and players who stick have a 1/3 chance of winning the car, is based on the premise that the host knows which door hides the car and will always reveal a goat but never the car.
