Nomads are basically mid-tech, alongside Haqqislam. They have their tech strenghts, but they have their tech weaknesses as well. Nomads tech strengths lie in infowar, which they excel at like no other faction. While they have bioengineered it's definitely not a strength, as it's fairly random. That strength goes to Haqqislams Al Medinat.

Nomads tech weaknesses are in tactical gear - their HI and TAGs are old, obsolete tech. Strapping a big gun to an old TAG is still an old TAG with a big gun.

They're definitely not low tech though, that goes to Ariadna. The way I basically see it is:

Low tech - Ariadna
Mid-tech - Haqqislam, Nomads
Hi-tech - Yu Jing, Pan Oceania, Tohaa
WTF-tech - Combined Army, Aleph

No one really knows how powerful Arachne truly is (Nomad's AI), Some say that Arachne is even more powerful than Maya. Some say that Arachne is nothing more than a baby version of Maya. No one really knows, but we do know that Maya fears Arachne. Arachne was originally designed by the PanO Knight Order of (i really can't remember the name), but they were the ones that made all the hi tech gear for PanO. After they made Arachne, Maya became so insanely afraid that she would become obsolete that Maya declared them heretics and triggered the Apostasy. The other Knight Orders basically began slaughtering this Knight order and they fled to Nomads and created the Black Labs of Praxis.

Nomads have issue getting resources, so their TAGs use an outdated Chassis with new internal systems. Since they also have difficulty in making TAGs and Truly Heavy Infantry since they don't have the proper production facilities in their Ships. So that is less an issue of not having the technology but not having the means to apply their technology.

The real tech levels are something like
No Tech - Ariadna
Low Tech - Haqqislam (Tho you could say they are Hi Tech in very selective fields, overall their day to day is pretty low to mid tech)
Mid Tech - Yu Jing and PanO
Hi Tech - Nomads and Aleph
Alien Tech - CA and Tohaa

Why is YuJing and PanO only mid tech even if they have a few techs that are higher than Nomads? Because they aren't really the ones developing the Tech. Aleph is developing the majority of the tech then selectively passing it down to PanO and YuJing. Maya is in control of what gets developed and researched by those nations. Maya determines what technology is acceptable for them to use and what is allowed in the day to day.

Admittedly tho YuJing does have a few secret research facilities tho

Maya is the name of the Network Aleph is the AIs name, either way the Knights you are referring to are the Knights of the Temple (Templar)

ALEPH and the O-12 have a huge manufacturing base of their own. ALEPH for the most part has its own designs that might have at one point been a PanO or YJ design--but then gets taken from them and becomes the exclusive domain of ALEPH.

As of right now in the lore, ALEPH produces all its own stuff. Their weapons are produced "in-house"(Example is the combi rifle design[IPF-Dardo] seen on the Nagas, Dasyus, etc produced by "Italieri de Precisione" or the pistols[PD-7 "Detour"] seen on the same models produced by "FGA"), the armor/kit is produced in-house, and pretty much everything they have is produced in-house.
That kit is bankrolled by O-12 and purportedly is why mercenary units like the KTS or Druze are using it as well; it has no direct ties to any one faction.
At one point ALEPH used the PanOceania "Mulebots", but they dropped them in favor of making their own design(description on the Probot).


Not trying to show you up or anything here; it's a pain to figure out the way things work in this universe at times.

But it looks like the opposite - PanO and YJ have their designs which they develop themselves, but then upload to MAYA. ALEPH uses this information as the basis to make its own designs.
