I do all the time, you're still space marines and there's still tons of things you can defeat in close combat

Back in 3rd and 4th edition, I used to like lascannons in tactical squads all over the place.

These days I don't see as much of a use for heavy weapons in tactical squads. I do like the heavy bolter there, as it meshes well with Imperial Fist tactics and compliments the standard bolter nicely in my opinion.

Also remember that you can keep a heavy weapon model stationary for a turn and fire. I use this often to fire an anti tank while still advancing. Keep unit coherency and you're good.

Depends how you want to use your Tac marines

if you are going to keep the in a rhino's/razorback then pop them out to take/hold objectives basic as you can get

if your splitting them into combat squads you do need a heavy for the squad not in a razorback

I always seem to be playing marines so I always have a sgt with p/fist ,melta as a special & missile launcher for the heavy (costs a bomb)

I would say there is little reason not to include a Flamer at minimum.
Very small point increase for an auto hit weapon that can stack wounds effectively and provide added overwatch.
The fact its damage profile fits the bolter means you still stay focused on infantry.
