Let say a veteran doesn't want to trounce a new player. How is he suppose to do that. If he is a veteran he has an optimised list , so is he suppose to start a bad army just to play against noobs ?

Well, according to GW, you just have a collection of models, and can build whichever list you like each time you play. You can take different models - you don't have to always take the hard-hitting ones. You don't have to take all your army. You don't have to play at 1850 all the time.

The idea that you have just one optimised TAC list, and that is all you ever play with, is an invention of the tournament/competitive world, and not something GW promotes.

+1 to this and +2 for that awesome mustache.

But yeah, you shouldn't just have one TAC list for every single game. Where is the enjoyment in that? Look at Dave from Miniwargaming (miniwargaming.com OR check them out on YouTube!) who is currently trying to find the BEST Chaos Space Marines list for 1,500 points. He's played everything from Undivided to purely Tzeentch to purely Nurgle to purely Slaanesh to purely Khorne, and he has stated multiple times that this is the most fun he has ever had with WH40k. To him, as well as me, the enjoyment of the game is trying out new things and feeling like each time I play its a completely different battle.

And +3 for those cool goggle things.

So after six months of paying for books, paints, dice, measures and enough space wolves to be able to get beaten regularly at 600, 1000 and 1500 point levels in ever increasingly uncompetitive games I now have the enjoyment of having my local store manager revel in condescendingly informing me that I must shell out £60 for more poxy rules if I want to keep playing. I get things change and wouldn't have started if I wasn't prepared to keep investing but it's the attitude that I'm not welcome unless I allow GW to milk me dry that really jives me. The collectors Edition looks cool and people who want the fluff and the pictures etc are welcome to buy but I don't see why there isn't an economy version for people who just want to check it out and be able to play a few games without breaking the bank. I'll probably get myself a *special* digital edition tbh, stuff 'em. I'm on the brink of dumping my army on eBay already and if the game gets any more unbalanced I'll be looking for a new hobby.

brutal, even the store manager coming over to stick it in too.

having to buy new books would make me rage. especially when the rules they're "developing" are such garbage.
