Thats kind of stupid...

I dont want to show up and play someone with 2 x LOW in there army! How is that even a good thing? I wouldn't even want to be the guy who does play that.

The new rules allow for a *lot* of 'stupid things' to happen....

Ok, so is this a legal list?

CAD of white scars (primary detatchement)

CAD of iron hands (secondary detatchement)

allied detatchement of ultramarines?

Both the WS and IH have one HQ and two troops, but the UM have only one HQ and one troop. This legal? They all come from the same codex (C:SM), but they FAQed it that you can ally different chapter tactics with eachother.

One Canoptek Scarab in a Swarm

Sacramento, CA

Assuming each CAD and AD follows the FOC, looks fine to me.

Completely legal and battle forged.

Pretty much it seems that the Allied Detachment would only be usefull If you wanted to take a single unit from another codex and didnt want to pay the additional troop tax.

Yep, that's it.

Otherwise I'll take my LoW and fortifications shenanigans per CAD.

At first glance it does seem like you can do:

CAD (1HQ - 2 Troops - 1 Fortification - 1 LoW)
CAD 2 (1HQ - 2 Troops - 1 Fortification - 1 LoW)

So you can legally have 2 LoW and 2 Fortifications if you pay the added tax

You are very wrong on this.

LoW and Fortifications per their respective bookis, are detachments themselves.

You can field 1 Combined Arms Primary detachment with 1 HQ, and 2 Troops, then field 3 LoW Detachments with 3 different Baneblade variants.

He isn't wrong. I think your view of how detachments out of Escalation is wrong. A "CAD" choice unlocks one LoW and Fortification. Pretty clear, page 122, Optional:1 Fortification or LoW each.

reading the actual text tells you that Escalation detachments are optional detachments "just like Fortifications and Allies". Yes it does say to view the FOC chart on the next page, but that just shows an example of A single Primary CAD detachment(required under current available rules), a fortifications detachment, an allies detachment(which we absolutely know we can have as many of as we want), and a LoW detachment. It does not show multiple detachments because it does not need to, and the BRB for 7th tells us we are allowed to have as many detachments as we like.

Kel, check the bottom of the Escalation FAQ. Is say to ignore the Escalation FOC on page 35 and use the BRB one. http://www.blacklibrary.com/Downloads/Product/PDF/Warhammer-40k/7th-faq/Escalation_v1.0_May14.pdf

Unbound lets someone show up with JUST LoW in their army
