As an aside, it doesn't mention targeting a unit anywhere in the Overwatch or Wall of Death rules.

"Would-be attackers" and "The Charging Unit" get a mention, and it says that Overwatch follows "all the normal rules for range, line of sight, cover saves and so on", but it never mentions targeting specifically.

Is it a shooting attack? Yes.
What is step 2 of a shooting attack? Choose a target.
Do you have permission, anywhere, to skip this step?

Irrelevant, as youre told its a shooting attack - so you must declare a target. The fact you can only declare Aa single enemy unit as target is irrelevant. "and so on" more than adequately covers this.

Probably not relevant but another type of shooting attack so lets talk about novas, its not a snap fire but in the BRB it clearly states that it can hit fliers and FMC so I also assume it would hit invisible units and deathleapers as the weapon has no targets it just hits everything in its radius. Are you going to deny me of making a nova attack at a deathleaper as nova shooting profiles have no option to snap fire or select a target instead it just hits all enemy units in it's radius?

Yes. Fliers and FMC have an exception, to allow Novas to hit. Does DL? DO Invisible units?

If not then their rules apply.

(Oh, and they DO target, they just do not get to select which unit they target)
