What's actually wrong with that? If the "education" doesn't actually benefit them it's useless anyway. If they do make it pro then they might just make a decent living. If they hit it big then they are in possession of a very narrow skill set and should be rewarded.

Because the chances of them going pro are less than a percentage point and I while I'm okay with the "son when you grow up you can be anything" attitude, by the time you're 18 it's time for adults to stop feeding that little fantasy.

(American) Football and Rugby are both equally entertaining in different ways. For football its about the suspense before the ball is snapped, the different strategic plays and players performing their roles and adapting when things go wrong. Rugby (and I'm talking about Union here) is about the player skill and adapting on the fly more than football, though is does have some excellent set piece play as well.

League is about counting to five, and only Australians care about AFL.

Freshman year, definitely. By Junior year none of those yahoos were still around, cause the school doesn't care about flunkies who can't throw/kick a ball

Yeah, because unless education gets you a nice paying job then its useless. I mean, learning to think? Bah, if it doesn't net you seven figures by the time you're thirty then you might as have never turned up for kindergarten.
