The dreadnought is meant for anti carnifex...so it should win...(see what I did there)

4 wounds is greater than 3 hp...and you can take 3 of them for one choice...the carnifex is a lot better than a dreadnought, even under these rules carnifexes win out.

a 3+ dosnt fix the problem...everything that hurts it in CC or shooting is ap3 or lower...it would literally be a pointless save...

Eitherway...despite the arguing it good to see people are in agreement that the dreadnought needs a pretty significant buff to get off the shelves.

I just think an invul save would do them wonders. Even just a 5+ as a default for their unit type. If I'm not mistaken, pretty much every MC has IWND as a unit feature in addition to whatever else each model might posses (Armor saves, invul saves, FNP, etc). If base Walkers got some form of survivability, it would be a welcome change.

Then of course, you can have BETTER walkers as they are needed, such as Marine dreads getting unique buffs as they tend to do.

I'd honestly love it if my Kanz got just a 5+ for being Walkers. Give the guys a bit of staying power to help justify the increase in cost with no real boons. (other than squad size increase, but that doesn't justify cost increase)

What MCs have IWND? I've never encountered a single one :L

I dunno, I thought it was the inherent bonus of being a MC (in their special rules), though I could be mistaken. I don't have a rulebook handy very often. I'll have to check when I can get my hands on my tablet again.

I believe you are thinking of Gargantuan Creatures.

If the problem is just being pecked to death by stuff like bolter fire, why not just make a special rule that effects all vehicles and goes something like...

"Weapons with an AP value of 5, 6 or - only roll D3 for Armour Penetration, instead of a D6."

Or, for people with gaming clubs and don't mind House Rules, one could apply the following changes to how AP works with Vehicles and how Armourbane and Melta work.

WEAPON AP VS VEHICLES
* AP 5, 6, -: This weapons rolls D3 for Armour Penetration.
* AP 4, 3, 2: This weapon rolls D6 for Armour Penetration.
* AP 1: This weapon rolls 2D6 for Armour Penetration.

Armourbane: An attack with this special rule may re-roll failed Armour Penetration rolls. In addition, Glancing Hits caused by this attack are counted as Penetrating Hits instead.
Melta: Same as Armourbane, but only works within half the weapon's range.
