That is an extremely tough decision. My love for all the genre of Guard Regiments out there compel me not to choose one above the rest. My ideal regiment, one that I would field on tabletop would be a mix of all of them. I want them to be the best equipped soldiers in the entire galaxy, with flexible strategies and tactics that they can wield in most situations on any world. I love the art of offensive sieges and defensive sieges. I love a good air assault, I love stealth, I love information warfare, and I love it when a regiment can go toe to toe with anything the galaxy can throw at them, meeting anything the foe decides to throw at them with their own equivalent. There are many regiments out there that embody one characteristic that I like, but none that hold all.

I will forever remain humble because I know I could have less.
I will always be grateful because I remember I've had less.

Valhallans are my favourite. I love their "Never give ground" attitude like others have already mentioned but I love my Wolves too so it makes sense that a Guard regiment allied with them needs to be prepared for extremely cold climates and for some reason the Vostroyan Firstborn just don't seem the type to socialize with the Space Wolves

After that it's a tie for DKoK or Steel Legion, but I got a mate who plays Steel Legion but uses DKoK Forgeworld models to represent them. Greedy sod...

They'd love each other. Combined, they'd have the best mustaches and beards in the galaxy!

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

The Death Korps have an excellent image and the Praetorians are great fun but I go with the Steel Legion, I got into GW just as the 3rd Armageddon War was kicking off, love the look, the play style and the fluff. Just a shame they're a pain in the arse to convert.

Oh What a Lovely War.

Praetorians, mordians, vostroyans, DKOK, Eleysians and then Cadians are my favourites for various reasons.
Nothing beats a fine crimson tunic with highly polished buttons and boots. Plus some cockney geezer who looks somewhat Michael Cain

As I've said before, it's the Mordians. They're stylishness is unmatched. They can both competently wage a war, and look great doing it.

Order of the Righteous Armour - 542 points so far.

The Valhallan models really can paint up very nicely. Plus the Soviet style goes with the death or glory IG fluff - Commissars and all.

Mordians and Praetorians too, sharp dressers those lads.

Stylishness unmatched? No other Guard Regiment can match this:

Spoiler:

Please, nobody matches the style of Vostroyans. The lasgun model used by officers doubles as an axe.

Being a prior Cav Scout in the Army Guard I gotta go with the Tanith First!!

It is the way of Fenris. We stay as long as we can. Fight as hard as we can. Kill as much as we can. Only when we can do no more do we move on.

Sometimes you gotta roll the hard six!

Praetorian guard are first for me. Following them would be the Drookian Fenguard.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

Cadians. Steel Legion are a close second.

Cadians have always been the most appealing to me due to their simplicity. There's also great potential for conversion work with them, and generally easy to use plastic kits. A lot of people think they're dull and boring, but I think they're full of character, and there's a lot you can do to fill your models with personality.

Always loved the original Catachan jungle fighters models, but my honest favourite ones are the original Rogue Trader era Imperial Army/Guard.

Those models were great, and a joy to paint.

I think I like the Harakoni Warhawks best. Hunting vapour wyrms on grav-gliders? Sounds interesting. Too bad they aren't mentioned much.

I have to admit, they sounded awesome, too. Clans of sneaky, murderous swamp-dwellers who hate just about everybody else, including other clans on their own planet. Kind of like an angrier Tanith First what with their specialization in infantry infiltration.
