What do you mean ? I just did few posts ago - Raven Guard Space Marines, as both combination of fluff/rules/models/playstyle which appeals to me, especially as I can take numerous CC elements for them and keep them mobile

Ahhh, bravo than. To WARRR!

Hate to say but that is how 7th edition is played: pick codex for play style, but ok to pick different army look to play.
<edit>I play black Templar and keep looking at BA codex to play them "properly".

This mentality in even 6th edition made me dislike playing the game for a while - for example why trying Blood Angels - despite their power and rules, I just couldn't even look on Codex cover without a bit of disgust, because I didin't like them. Never. From the looks (Blonde Cherubs) throught their Lore, to their rules. Not my cup of tea, never, ever.
Beseides, I don't think that Raven Guard and SM Codex overall are "bad" or "uncompetetive". This is one of the best dexes now, with lots of solid, powerful units, access to all the good toys, and quite versatile. And RG Tactics is not a bad one, actually one of the better, especially for Mech Assault or Rhino Wall.

And Filch - but now CSM is not bad codex at all - for sure not as bad as it was in 5th ed. And, unlike previous dex, now CSM provide LOTS of different approaches to combat, with few quite powerful units. You want to play Word Bearers, with Cultists and Dark Apostles? Here you go! You want to play Death Guard Warband, with Plague Marines assisted by ZOMBIE? You are free to do it. You want to make proper use of your good, old Doomrider? Lord on a Bike, with Mark of Slaanesh and MURDER Sword. Thanks to this versatility (and Heldrake..) this Army is now best since 3.5

Thanks verskern but if you are talking bout ia13 then it's not really a csn army any more. if you look at the recent army list threads for csm then you will see people just spamming units from ia13. Mostly cheap renegade and heretics. I have proxies the new stuff n although they are great I don't get to have time to play much or have money.

Only most of the options are bad, so even if someone would want to use a dark apostol or a lord with a murder sword, in the end he won't , because the options are bad.

No ont tells you to paint your army like a BA one, you can paint it any way you want or even not paint it at all. It is just that the units and game play you picked to use are better with codex BA. The codex sm is ok. Grav weapons and bikers can even be powerful against some lists. But if you want to use drop pods and assault marines, then the sm dex is not a good place to start an army.

If this was your first army it wouldn't be much a problem. But it isn't, you went through many armies. IMO what will happen is that you will build the army and the army won't work well.

I'll think about it of course, I may even test both codexes, but as I said - problem lies withing BA's set of rules which are not that much appealing to me because they FEEL wrong and unfun to me. I am not that into Epichammer 40k and Fantasyhammer 40k, and Blood Angels are both - Space Vampires with super rage, pissed off units and weird, golden armor with TEARS EVERYWHERE. I'll test it, but I'll be a lot closer to change my Tactic overall in some manner (fe I've already found that, instead of DP's, best hit would be with Rhinos as they get scout and they'll provide cover for AM's), instead of making the army 100% Assault out of JPs and DP's, but with Codex that just doesn't fit my taste at all

I'll make Double Post, but just to wrap up things, inform everyone and perhaps close the whole Thread.

Today I visited my beloved Hobby Center to make shopping and begin my army. While standing and talking with the owner of whole place, I noticed few lying BOXES. Boxes that were one of the reasons I started whole hobby at all. Units that, since the first look upon 40k, had my attention, and were meant to be me. Look of the HQ that would fit me completely. Fluff that was, from the first read, 100% appealing. And feel that I was all the time, in all armies something missing.

Then I made true decision.

"Wait, instead of these Marine Strikeforce, I'll take these - just I know that it will be right hit" - I told to Owner (and my bud).

And, welp, I got them - 2 GKSS and one box of GK Paladins. Because Grey Knights were meant to be my first race in 40k from the very beggining, and I think it will be best to break this god damn curse upon my gaming is to TAKE THESE GUYS at last. And mix em with Assassinorum and Inquisitors, of course.

So, thank you once again for all your help, and once I got back home and opened all the boxes - I knew I made the Right decision

Welcome to the Inquisition! (kinda)

Those people who make CSM's seem mewling and weak in comparison.

Hardest part will be figuring out what melee weapons to kit those suckers out with.

I strongly suggest putting magnets into the backpacks for normal or "shunt / jump" troops.

Very pretty army, will be interesting to see what you settle-on for painting them.

I still feel these guys are where Black Templar go when they retire and want a challenge.

A revolution is an idea which has found its bayonets.

Thanks

About Melee weapons - for now I am sticking with this combo (on GKSSs) - 3 Halberds, Falchions, Hammer, 2 Psycannons (it is best special weapon without agrue..). Decent, well armored and versatile loadout which will allow me to shoot up the tank if I'll need to shoot up a tank, and charge and destroy if I'll need to charge and destroy.

Termie box is split to three things - Librarian (thank the Emperor I had spare Deathwing Knight hooded head!), Brother-Captain with Soul Glavie, and 3 Paladins - Hammer, Two Glavies, Apothecary.

On magneting backpacks - I thought about it, but I preffer to just buy another pack next month, as I plan to paint Interceptors significantly different than Strike Squads anyway. And, of course, with different loadout - Incinerator and a bit more Falchions than one pair.

Ohhh yes, can't wait to start painting, altough I am planning to change overall scheme in some manners - darker (ironclad dark), with red eyes, purple/red/gold/silver additions and green (or red, in case of relic) force weapons
