On the competitive level orks are bottom tier sadly.

The LVO is next weekend and will guessno ork makes top 10 or maybe not even top 20.

I like to play campaigns and story games. But it be nice to be able to also have a chance at a competitive tournament.

The green tibe, probably our most competitive build , is still not that great. One giant unit is great, but it doesn't even have OS.

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

Seeing the Necron release and the Tyranid mini-release really frustrated me as an Ork player.

The 7th Edition codex was enough for me to at least get my Orks off the shelf and PLAY with them again, which I suppose is good. However every game I play with them is an extremely uphill battle, and other armies can just easily out-class me.

Seeing the Necrons get all sorts of formations with uber-strength special abilities just made me grimace compared to the formations that we got. Yay, we get... Hammer of Wrath when we assault, AND when we roll more than 10? Yay, we spend 500 points of our army on Transports (5 Battlewagons) with NO offensive power really whatsoever, just to get "Scout" on them all?

I realize a lot of other codexes also haven't gotten this kind of special treatment as well, but I feel like those codexes also have less of an uphill battle than Orks do.

I've resigned to myself that if I put Orks on the table I'm probably going to lose, and try to still have fun with it.

I read through the Battlereports. Kudos to him for doing such a good job and doing good battlereports.

Basically the list boils down to:

Green Tide w/Painboy
Tankbustas in Big Tracks
Kustom Mega Kannons

He's obviously a very good player and did a great job. I've been thinking for awhile since 7th Edition came out that I need to work on finishing a couple squads of Tankbustas. I never used them in the old codex much, so all I have is a handful of Orks with rokkits that aren't even painted. They definitely seem like one of our stronger units.

Getting a Big Track or two might not be a bad idea either, but I don't like the idea of having to use Forge World models in my casual games.

Forgeworld seems to be releasing a new ork book. And I remeber old rumours of speed freak supplement.
If those two lists contain enough fixes to walkers and buggies/trakks I think Orks will do fine.

However personally I agree Orks slugga boys should of been 5 points and 6 points for shootas. The orkanauts should of been assault vehicles and both versions needed the kff option as well as a 25 point reducition.
And my personal wish was ghazzy had the ability to call waaghh every turn even if this meant his invul would only be a 4+. This would of mad Orks slightly more mobile another place to gain fearless and a way to make a squad of mega nobz quicker and a bit less over costed.

However I don't think any of that is happening soon so I just hope for a boost to fw dread mob list and a boost to speed freaks.

He used gunwagons w planks and Rams for the tankbustas. Av13 transports however I think big trakks are better cost and already have built in Rams.
He also used a void shield relay it works for any unit within 12in. So your opponent needs to dedicate anti tank to your infantry blob each turn or it regenerates its shields back. Thus pulling some anti tank away from your transports.
His Mek gunz were 2x kmk and 1x traktor kannon for anti fmc duties. There must be a better setup then mixing the two together.
He used a single Deffkopta to claim objectives. It's a low threat target. That can be annoying to kill and usually ignored.

I'd still take Gunwagons over Trakks with this list. A Green Tide gives you a good deal of control over the board. Any threat to your tanks is going to be positioned straight ahead of them, and that's why AV:13 front is important.

I dont have much to say about this thread other than I think orks can be competitive, but i wish they changed mob rule from D6 hits to D3. we love to kill each other, but i dont see a nob killing up to 6 guys with his 4 attacks haha.

I had to bring this comment up because i love it and its perfect
