Oh come on, Mensk is so ADORABLE!
And what about Duran Duran? Is he still rocking the 80's ?

At this point, Arcturus Mengsk is the only consistently good written character left in the whole StarCraft franchise. Unfortunately, things don’t go too well for him in HOTS…

Rocking the 80’s? I don’t know anything about that, but if you were hoping to see more of the mysteries and brilliant Duran from Broodwar in HOTS, then you will be sorely disappointed.
The guy has sadly been reduced to a cookie-cutter type of villain.

He does rock the laser beam though (Kamehameha style.)
I don't know if that’s your sort of thing, but hey, it is something I guess.

No one should be complaining about this codex. It gave regular Eldar a much needed buff by allowing us to drop Fire Dragons and D-Scythe Wraithguard wherever we want, without scatter. The thing about 40k is that no one person can grasp the fullness of it.

Don’t be sad RaptorusRex. After all you still have Centurion Assault Squads

He changed his name to Narud and grew a goatee. Somehow, this was enough to ensure that nobody knew who he was...

... heck, Kerrigan didn't even recognise him when they were fighting.

Come on! It was a joke about the band Duran Duran!

From the wiki, he also changed from a black guy to a white dude.

I thought he was more Middle Eastern than African in Brood War.

Oh sweet mother of mercy, not one of these. Oh well, may as well join the party.

40k did not invent power armor, hive minds, or psionically advanced racist aliens. You could probably count the number of original ideas in 40k on one hand. It's the world's coolest mash up of Dune, Moorecock, Starship Troopers, LOTR, Judge Dredd, pop history, and a million other things to hit the miniatures market. Yes, Warcraft started as a licensed Fantasy game, but StarCraft was not a 40k based project even from the earliest of alphas or before, rumors notwithstanding. Terran Marines and Terrans in general have little in common with the Imperium of Man, culturally, tactically, or aesthetically. Terran Marines have almost nothing in common with Space Marines beyond power armor and occasionally a criminal past, and Terrans as a whole actually believe in the proper use of science and technology, and are more like nomadic Redneck 19th century Australians in space than anything else, and they seem to take most of their cues from Aliens, Starship Troopers, Battlestar Galactica or Space Above and Beyond, and good old imagination. Honestly, if Protoss would have been a 40k race at some point in an alternate universe where StarCraft was very heavily influenced by 40k, I'd pin them for Blood Angels. Basic troops are melee, Dragoons=Dreadnoughts, they're super duper expensive, and set up bases with relative ease. My apologies for the rant. I was a StarCraft fan before I fell in love with 40k. I have no problem with obvious pastiches, being a fan of mystery man and adventure pulps, but StarCraft is its own beast.

He's definitely black in brood war.

Yeah. I always found it pretty weird how Blizzard decided that the only black guy in the whole game was actually some weird alien creature infected by the zergs. I mean, if they had just given a black portrait to any unit, it would have seemed so much less weird. You would have gotten tons of black guys and one of them is a weird alien creature.
Are there any blacks in SCII beside Tosh?

It was the accent for Duran that made me think middle-eastern.

The Marauders in SC2 have a bit of ghetto in their comm chatter.

The only accent from Starcraft I remember was the German accent from the Valkyrie. Because only Blizzard can make GERMAN accent SEXY. That goes against the fabric of the universe.

I use that “Don't keep me waiting“ as the tune on my phone when I get a new text .

I do not notice any kind of accent, but then again I am French, so…
(The Duran Duran reference is on purpose here, because the “Is there something I should know?” and “Please please tell me now” lines reference this.)
Well, I notice a zerg accent here :
