Hows about the Play to have fun. Give things a chance.

But if you and everyone around you finds it to be complete bullgak.
or Completely obviously dumb (like T1 bell fate weaver aos combo)
Then ban it and move on.

Don't let people be complete donkey caves about it.

I certainly support the game and can dislike the way its heading.
not sure why people need to be ALL or NOTHING about these sorts of things.

It's neither a case of All-in or nothing, nor a case of dropping the stuff that irritates you. It's a solid case maybe you aren't playing the game, you are reliving games from bygone days. Most of the issues people complain about are resolved within the current edition of the game, if you bother the actually play the current edition of the game rather than only the parts you like.

It's like complaining about all the stuff people put in a sandwich, when all you care about is the bread, then bitching about how bland bread is.

It is an all or nothing case with you. as you even stated that if you dont like it dont play it.

So you know i have no issues with playing against a super heavy or two at a decent points costs. its the 3+ imperial knight only lists that i have a massive gripe over. i dont care that it doesn't win games or high level tournaments. it care that the troops iv brought, the extra vehicles, the anti infantry and general shooters have gone to gak because i cant pen av13.
I dont play 40k to play an endurance test. to basically sit there and let my imperial knight opponent take out a few units and try to out points me.

I got to ask are people with nothing but imperial knights playing the game?

There are rules for troops and infantry. but they dont use any of it. so are they really playing the game?

I'm totally with OP, it's not much fun playing against vehicles that are immune to shaken, stun, weapon destroyed, etc, similarly with 6+ wound monstrous creatures.

It's an easy fix too, just make super heavies fire at -1 bs after penetrating hits. Now you can debuff them without destroying them. Gargantuans need a different fix, maybe poison wounds on a 5+ or so. As is I just have to completely ignore them, which depending on the mission rules may or may not be a viable strategy.

Pick up games are tough so I will not be talking on them.
At the FLGS and my friends we have the gentleman's agreement: if fielding a super heavy,LOW or IK you must tell your opponent you are and how many.
No requirement to say what it is.
It seems to work well.
Just my 2 cents.

Which formation is that? Land raiders approach an IK in price, but have 2 lousy lascannons to show for it.

Nope. Not if you're using all the rules anyway.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

That's alright, play the game as you want. Just remember that your complaints about the half you play aren't valid when you chose to ignore the other half of the game.
