I like this. A lot. Gonna have to buy a few more Basilisks, buff out my current 2. Only 7 more!
My artillery base strategy at the moment is 2 Basilisks and 2 Manitcores w/ camo netting behind an Aegis line. Surround that with a meat shield of Guardsmen to prevent charges/deep strikes and pound away. All the while having 3+ cover saves on the artillery pieces. Immobile sure, but hopefully you flatten the board and leave yourself free to grab objectives turn 4 or 5.

I do this with Death Korp except with 3 Imperial Bombards in an Aegis line, with a unit of engineers in a hades breaching drill to deal with all enemy vehicles. 3 ignores cover AP:3 pie plates a turn is very good.

Rotting Sorcerer of Nurgle

HQ
Captain w/ Shield Eternal, Power fist, Arty armour and auspex
ML 2 Lib w/ divination
Troops
10 Tac with Plasma gun and Cannon w/ rhino
Same as above but the Sarge now has a Plasma Pistol
Fast Attack
5 man assault squad w/ 2 flamers in rhino
Hvy support
3 x Vindicators in a Squadron
Devs w/ 3 Missile launcers and a Lascannon
Devs and Lib must be deployed in a very good vantage point where they can get LoS to most of the board
Captain rolls with the 5 man squad and the other 2 squads rush for objectives.
Rhinos must be used to cap objectives them selves. This will make your enemy hate you.
Enemy will focus everything he has on the triple vindicators.
Use Popeye.. er I mean the captain and his squad to go and start assaulting and burning things willy nilly in the back field
Use Prescienced Dev squad to mop up
vindicators, if still alive must keep drawing fire while you cap Objectives.

Lootas with Defense Line and ammo dump(Re-roll 1's to hit). You can get some good spacing while keeping the lootas with in 2" of the ammo dump marker. Just for that little extra dakka you want.

The artillery behind defense lines will see a huge upswing in capability now that serpent shields don't invalidate them completely. Once guard players start to run lists like these in serious tournaments the meta is going to shift HARD.

One of the ig players at my shop takes heavy flamers on all his artillery units. At first I thought it was stupid, but when he pointed out that most infiltrators or outflankers have 4+ or worse armor and I saw it in practice, I have to agree with the effectiveness of it. I've lost so many kommandos and deff koptas to his artillery it's not even funny.

I really like this idea. But correct me if I am wrong, you can only have 3x henchmen squads in the inquisition detachment?

People STILL say Necrons fall in assault. It is completely outdated info.
A Decurion gives Relentless as a bonus. You can actually charge and kill an infantry squad after double tapping your Flayers. I2 isn't a big deal when you aren't having grenades either.

Not so much wargear since the only tau wargear that isnt used isnt used because its beyond worthless, not because its suboptimal lol. But..
I use Stealth Suits and Piranhas quite commonly. I've earned a bit of a reputation for being one hell of a thorn with Piranhas especially and my Stealth Suits seem to always manage to pull off either 1 wound or 1 ML (which leads to 1 wound) that make the game in my favor lol.
Its funny. I bring them purely because theyre durable enough to piss you off and strong enough to hurt you pretty bad if you ignore them. Piranhas tend to get ignored first time they face them because they dont expect anything, but Stealth Suits are usually bumrushed and make a ton of 2+ cover saves - time wasted!
Ork-wise, i ran 15 Bubblechukkas (proxy of course, i aint making that many bubbles) and 3 Big Meks with SAGs once. That was hilarious.....just...sickeningly hilarious lol...If i was against a droppod list i probably woulda got owned but i was against tac marine spam so it was just a massacre. 18 pi plates a turn, 15 of which are SD6/APD6 and 3 are S2D6 and AP2 lol.

Assaulting Eldar with my Crisis Suits, in particular Wraith units, I have utilize this multiple times much to my opponents surprise in the results have been pretty positive. Usually I will drop a Wave Serpent and force the Wraithguard to start marching across the table. At that point I tend to ignore them to focus on more longer range and mobile threats but if they end up getting pretty close I will take the initiative and usually move a team of my Burst Cannon Suits up to shoot him in the face and then assault them rather than risk them shooting at one of my high priority targets or even my suits.
