Jeremiah watched as the Xeno battle line assembled itself. He and his heavy weapons were directly across from a large group of the enemy, one of them being a massive beast armed with what appeared to be an acid sprayer. The sight of it gave him chills, and he returned to his last minute preparations, loading the first ammo canister into his weapon. The act calmed him down immensely, and he settled behind the gun shield of his weapon, ready for whatever came next.
Jeremiah didn't know how long he lay there in the ruins of the building, it could have been minutes, hours, or even days.
HIs squad had made a good showing for being so new, they had put several jagged holes into one of the larger xeno beasts, and scythed down several of the smaller ones that were nearby. They had done what they had been asked to do, but it hadn't been enough. Jeremiah had only just barely dodged out of the way of the acid spray, but the other hadn't been nearly so lucky, many of them being melted by the bio-acid that had been spewed from the massive beast, but maybe they were the lucky ones. The acid spray had crippled his legs and left him unable to move. And so he sat there surrounded by the injured and dying, but he was not afraid. He had done his duty, so what did he have to fear? As he sat there contemplating this he was jerked out of his thoughts by the arrival of Father Ivan, who upon seeing him gently picked him up and began walking towards a waiting Chimera. Jeremiah drifted in and out of consciousness, but he could hear Ivan calling for a medic, and Jeremiah grinned softly before passing out again, he was in good hands.
