Gk/daemons want to deep strike a whole army and charge? Fine. Doesn't sound all that fun, but how is it different from an entire sm army dropping and shooting everything?

Oh, right. The space marine player doesn't need to care about scattering into enemy units, gets to move 6" after the deep strike, doesn't have random shooting range, and doesn't get shot by the enemy units he wants to attack.

Want tactics against it? Use your army's shared overwatch, bubble wrap, position to force him into taking dangerous terrain/mishaps, upgrade some of your dudes to interceptor....

Full DS assault is not the boogeyman it was before assault got heavily (justifiably) Nerfed since 4th. It's not a very fun strategy but neither are a TON (maybe all) of the tournament viable 40k strategies (invisible Death Stars, Superheavy spam, FMC spam, etc)

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Casualty removal, look out sir, challenges, the psychic phase, overwatch. Basically all the stuff that disrupt's the flow of the game. it used to be so much faster to play.

I've said it before I'll say it again, skirmish game or mass battle. PICK ONE.

As it is the game has superheavies and fliers and 100+ models in what would be considered an average points game, but then you treat each individual line grunt like he is his own unit as you would in a skirmish game.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.
