I've addressed this in some of my previous posts. If a $20M company needs to do that, they are doing something very wrong.
So you're still approaching this from the angle that the company 'needs' to use Kickstarter, rather than that they're using it because it's a handy tool for planning and increasing sales.
If you drop your misconception that Kickstarter is only for penniless vagrants, you might find yourself butting your head against the wall a bit less.
Oh, good God. Let it go. You aren't going to convince me and I'm not going to convince you.
Aren't you a Mod??

Everyone's following the rules, all the time.
Or, you know...
At this point, you've said in multiple posts ITT that you're all set and done with this thread - for your own peace of mind, sanity, etc. you might actually want to follow through with that.

Actually, you guys deleted one of my comments that was not offensive, but was deemed to be irrelevant to the conversion. So I took it upon myself to delete the rest that were of no use to the topic at hand. Thought I was being helpful.
Not drama. Trying to have a reasonable discussion.

Thanks for your well-intended help, but perhaps it would be better for everyone to leave the moderation function to the moderation team.

Well believe it or not I understand where Mdlbuildr is coming from. My personal opinion is that a company like that should be well established enough to not use KS at all. And as a person who does indeed make investments it is a red flag to me. It is always my belief that KS is to help people with crowd sourcing money to get to the next level of establishing businesses. When larger corporations use KS as a reduction of risk to sell product is when I have issues with, since there are so many fricking tax loop holes that a larger corporation can have to pay little and/or no tax.
It just comes down to what you believe in. Cmon seems to be doing great and more power to them but I won't make an investment on them.
I'll just instead invest into Hasbro and or Mattel... They are the quantitative demons that I do know

Not being a public company doesn't mean a thing. In my eyes, a $20M is not "small". As Azrael13 points out, we don't know what their profit/losses are, but with only 30 employees and 3 shareholders, that kind of revenue stream is HUGE.
I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

I believe the point was to let Adam Longwalker know that he can't, in fact, 'invest' in CMON.
But maybe Kilkrazy was reaching for something deeper as well?
I'm sure he'll let us know!
For me, the great thing about Kickstarter is that people really do vote with their wallets.
If the majority of people really felt that something 'shouldn't be on Kickstarter', well, it wouldn't succeed and therefore wouldn't be on Kickstarter.

Okay, now I get it.
Every penny spent on a company's product is an investment in that product and company, the way I see it. I get where he's coming from now, though. Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, that was the point. It's all very well to say you won't invest in a company because X, but actually you can't invest in private companies unless invited to by the board of directors. That's the point of them being private.
Your view of investment is not what what would be recognised by management accountants as an investment in a company.

And it is not funny!
That is exactly what companies do, and it is up to the customers to decide to buy/invest in the product.
Rockband PC port kickstarter failed exactly because of that

We understand. People in this thread have said that numerous times. And here is it mentioned AGAIN.
Those of us that think that KS shouldn't be used to fund projects when a company is wealthy enough to do it on their own are in the minority here. We get it. That does not invalidate our opinion, and you mentioned this AGAIN won't change our minds.
Move on already. Seriously.

You know what I miss?
I miss the old days, when people who stormed out of a thread in a huff, swearing to never return...actually never returned.
CMON is, for better or for worse, a "Kickstarter Company".
If someone doesn't like that, well, they'd be best served by not pledging for CMON projects on Kickstarter, and maybe not even reading CMON themed threads - especially if it is going to cause them any kind of anxiety.
CMON projects are clearly "approved" by Kickstarter, so I guess that means they 'should' be on Kickstarter.
CMON projects also make Kickstarter a fair amount of money, so...
