Essentially I'd like a full on reboot like the transition from 2nd to 3rd.
Remove the flyers & super heavies, reduce game size in terms of how many models/units are on the table, re-balance the armies to be relatively equal, simplify list creation, etc. Basically return the game to what it was in 3rd - 5th.

I completely sold out of 40k. Remodeled my bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and new fixtures, and still had enough left over to JUMP into Malifaux.
Glad I did. EVERYTHING about Malifaux is amazing. You guys should check it out!

I'm waiting for solid rules that can be used equally for competitive tournaments and casual, narrative games. Prices that are at least halfway reasonable (e.g. no giving 5 guys per box for a unit you want 10 of, thus double-charging you). Not waiting ages for a codex update while armies that don't need updates get them frequently. Not thinking that local game stores are the enemy. Not giving only a handful of options in a box and making you buy double or another box entirely to get the unit options you want. In short, I'll be waiting a long time.

I don't want to waste 30mins on negotiations I don't want to lose out on a game because the other guy wants to use a titan I have no hope of killing.
If I go play games like x-wing I don't have this nonsense.
It's not about being antisocial it's about getting a game in with someone, we can talk and have a laugh while we play.
40k feels like work to play these days and your not supposed to pay money to work.
That is what I am finding.
Free time is like gold.
X-wing I can play pretty much any time in pickup games.
I am just getting into Malifaux, it seems pretty good and the balance seems ok.
In 40k "upgrades" can be pretty powerful while in the above mentioned games, there are balances to their selection.
All the elements are there, it just seems like there is too much in 40k... less is more?

Completely serious!
I was the biggest GW apologist in the world, but after I left them for Malifaux I couldn't believe internal balance, external balance, fluff lists that are competitive, and all models being viable and competitive could exist... They also have balanced tournament support with mystery boxes as prizes, employees that hang in their websites chat, amazing models, good fair pricing, and are on top of their rules, there's no power creep.
Plus Gothic, Victorian, Lovecraft, steam punk, and horror themes all rolled together. How can you lose?

Basic chaos space marines which don't make me pray to Nurgle for brainrot would be a decent starter.
And if Slaanesh decides to bring ectasy instead of unspeakable agony (lol Dinobots, Hellturkey and Mutiliators aka halfmolten plastic refuse) by releasing some new cultmarines then this would be nice as well.
Oh, and some proper balance would be extremely nice as well but my main problem atm is that few of the (chaos) miniatures look good enough to justify painting or even playing with them.

I left because of the rules and how my local game store was all about winning with cheese.
So I followed up, made my guard a leaf blower list, won all the games, then realised I had sold out and hated the game because of it. Completely destroyed my enthusiasm, compared to when I played people who wanted to have dumb fun and silly stories.
Been looking at 30K for a while, but I can't really afford to buy all the FW stuff.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...
