I personally agree with most of what is said here.
I get a little iffy with the word "accommodation" expected from your opponent.
I find I am requested all manner of accommodating changes as it is.
As has been pointed out by some of the more aggressive players I have met, those that enjoy the game only for itself: welcome or not, they are there to play.
Even they can at least look at prettying up their models as "bait" to get a game in, if they are hard-core about their tactics.
It makes sense for tournaments since they are a showcase for the game so we should be putting our best foot forward.
I like to think it around the line of advertising: I want more players to meet, my army should look awesome to excite others and interest them in the hobby.
Hard to do with bare plastic models.
I find enough discussions of
OP armies but it sure makes it a lot easier to justify a game against them if they are painted well.
