That will look sweet once painted and weathered up! What do they function as in-game (cover, rough terrain, etc)?

The game out of the box - has no LOS blocking terrain except destructible buildings. This causes the game to be quite a bit more interesting with "real terrain" vs the basics.

Check out your standard table (this is a 6x4 so it would be for a larger point game). Basic firing lanes and fairly boring.

There are three factions that make use of Walkers (PHR is faction has the majority of it's units as mechwarrior/Tau suit type units). Their ability to walk over debris/terrain does matter when the entire table is only cardstock buildings.

From the FAQ:
Are there rules of different terrain types, and does a vehicle's design have an effect on movement through different qualities of terrain?

Yes, there are various rules for terrain types, and the unit's mode of movement does have a effect! For example, a skimmer can pass over impassable ground (rivers, lava flows etc) and move over tough ground (e.g. uneven, rocky areas) without penalty, but can't move through area features (like forest), since they have no ground traction. A walker can move through tough terrain without penalty also, and can plough through area features without penalty. A normal treaded or wheeled vehicle gets movement bonuses when travelling over exceptional ground (such as roads). Flyers can obviously fly over anything less than 6" above ground level.

I was inspired by this guy: http://greenstuffindustries.blogspot.com/2016/08/dropzone-bridge-terrain-complete.html

That makes total sense! And is probably why we felt our games became a little too simplistic / repetitive... all just open firing lanes between buildings on smooth roads. 40K would probably be pretty boring if played with no rough terrain / cover / etc, too.

Looking forward to seeing them painted

The more work I do on the project the slower it seems to get.

I keep wanted to add different elements. I'm now looking at the armorcast pipe terrain or the HWG monorail, a few more resin or plastic ho/nscale china buildings, and considering water effects in the craters - and I want normal terrain craters as well I can place where I want!

Updated page one status on progress

Army should be completed by tonight I should have around 4.5 hours of free time to paint. Bought coffee/setup table.

Then I can finally finish the table/terrain.

House rules have also been a huge bonus. I might start making various types of turrets/defences for the UCM. Our last game we played - we had a min requirement of 12 infantry bases at 1000 points for UCM vs UCM. My unpainted, mostly broken model, half converted Scourge friend wants to start making Half life headcrab type zombies and giving them homebrew rules. They appear in buildings or around spores shot in by the Scourge - still working on it. Bought some ho scale civilians for this task.

Loving this blog. I picked up a starting box for each of the 5 factions in the hope to start up a good DZC community in my area. Now I know what I need next: some kick-ass terrain!

There are so many good ideas on this thread. I am just warning you that I am going to blatantly steal a lot of these for my own board

Thank you! I recommend avoiding resin buildings if you want your friends to ever get a chance to even play the game

This game has so many possibilities!

1) Print the picture out
2) Glue on to the object you desire, do not mix water with the white glue - super thin layer
3) Get a sponge/foam from a 40k or warmachine blister pack - dab it in a dark brown paint
4) The link here shows you an example http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=1736

Do not gloss varnish or varnish by spray

Thank You! Sounds fun, will be trying it on the next vehicle!

The girlfriend wants a purse thats the equivalent cost of the resin buildings in this thread for holidays....

I asked girlfriend for https://www.amazon.com/Vallejo-Acrylic-72172-Plastic-Storage/dp/B009LH0YTA since I didn't want to send her on a last chancer's mission buying specific hobby tools/models/paints/armies for me.

Setup hobby table again, I've been neck deep working with Warmachine models but I should be able to tackle something this week. Life has been busy

I was also commissioned to paint a scourge army for a friend, added that to the budget on the first page. We're both still working on the conversions.

Primary: Metallic Bronze or Silver with oxidization/rust/some natural damage from the elements since the army's fluff is that it's been planetside for nearly 200 years.

Secondary: Blue or Red lenses and weapons. I'll paint up both to see how it'll looks. Basing will be identical to the UCM flightstands you see above on page 2. All hover tanks will be hovering 1/4-1/3 inch above ground on a flight peg... fun.

He's given me these two pictures for scheme idea:

And this is an alternate scheme of "Dark Matrix Metal" which we talked about would be the easiest - but unsure if it would look good. He said he'd want snow basing if he goes this route. We're unsure if this will blur the detail of the models over a brighter metal.

Scourge Conversions:

• Oppressor: The stock model is fine – he'd like to bulk up how high the model is as well as add tubs underneath the stomach of the crab. Like the CSM brass scorpion from forge world, I would like to beef up the undercarriage with plague bubbles? Give tubes to the rear guns and in general add various plague/small conversion work
• Overseer: The model will have a jellyfish like appearance. Twenty or more tentacles will hang from the undercarriage of a converted Harbinger off ebay. Similar to the oppressor? Greenstuff press and try and recreate more lenses and eyes around it. This model will not have any magnetization.
• Bought 4x Slayers, now wants two of them to be Tormentors. Similar to the chaos baneblade variation I'll heavily greenstuff the turrets since I do not have the correct turrets.
• Reapers: Some conversion work to have tentacles and tubes connect the AA gun to the rear of the tank
• Destroyers complete conversions from models provided to me – three to a base. They are some 6mm mechwarrior troop. They will have an assortment of weaponry and look like CSM Obliterators. I will use extreme detail with the tubes when sculpting. This will take some time.
• Intruder Alpha and Beta there will be four Alphas and two betas. The alphas will be stock models with some minor conversion work. The Betas will have large bulbous sacks underneath them. He bought 6 of the same transport and now I have to see how to convert them.
• Marauder: Greenstuff tube the starter kit models to have "cables" almost inside the carriage of the transport. These are already built and I have to convert them now.

The rest of the army was built. I'll add basing to the infantry and tanks.

Currently removed the wires from these I got off of China eBay - then glued them to pennies. Decided against magnetization after a few attempts. They are weight enough to be fine if I bump the table.

Actually the first building I did - got a bit of feedback of it being 'too overgrown" "too much flock" in person. The buildings will vary how much flock and overgrown each have. This is the other building WIP

Amazing! Especially love the tallest building. The paint chipping off from the top and perfect amount of flock really make it shine

The board itself warped quite a bit from sealing it with varnish/the white glue used on it. Going to attempt to get this cut for me at home depot

http://www.homedepot.com/p/MDF-Panel-Common-3-4-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Actual-0-750-in-x-48-in-x-96-in-M11161249097000000A/202332600

Then I'll gorilla glue / wood glue the boards down. I'll figure out how to block prime/edge the boards (possibly dry brush them gray then)

Friend ordered a Eden's Dinosaur for $21 off the Warstore. We have to attempt to convert this into all 3 HQ variations with magnets now.

Tonight I'm painting some D&D/Reaper minis but I should be back to cranking out the other buildings in the next few weeks.

I approve of the updated thread title . This table is going to be literally perfect for Adeptus Titanicus!!

Latest batch of buildings are looking great, too . I'd love another full table shot at a time that makes sense!
