After a few days of indecision, I decided to paint up the Mortis statue from the Sector Santorus box. Then I became couldn't decide between copying the box art or doing it in the style of the statuary of my DA Darkshroud.. What do you think?

Incidentally, although I really like the model, it needed some liquid Green Stuff and sanding due to obvious joins, especially down the statue's right side and elbows.

Since I can't decide on that, I dug out my Deathwing models that haven't seen daylight in about 2 years. They were sprayed Zandri Dust before I left Shanghai. More colour decisions! Do I highlight up from Zandri Dust or respray them Wraithbone (which I don't have a can of) and shade them down? Bone white is the aim, rather than pale brown. I had a quick heavy drybrush of Wriathbone to see how that would look but I feel it's still too brown.

If you look carefully, you'll spot my kitbashed Belail I magnetised him for all 3 legal loadouts in 7th. Now he just has one

that Sammael is really nice, and dangerous to me, as I want a Custodes jetbike captain, but just the one...if I bought a box I could do something like that too...

Do it! I just bought one jetbike off an eBay seller as I only needed the one. Buying a box for 1/3 the content is a waste, but aren't jetbikes one of the better Custodes units?

I've been plodding along and getting in a little bit of painting here and there.

This statue. So hard to decide on colours! Then I looked at the back of the statue with all those pipes and power cables.... Anyhoo, Here's a couple of photos. Sorry about the crap photos, it's hard to capture the details at night.

I've made some progress on the Deathwing squad, too. Pictures next time.

Okay, I'm calling the statue of Mortis done for now. Not great, but passable for terrain.

I have an idea for basing it, I just don't have any bases large enough right now. It doesn't really need one, but I like the idea I have for it.

Also, as always, there is a mountain of grey plastic to be tackled... 50 shades of grey plastic.

I finally dug out my whole DA army and set them up on the dining table. First time in years I've had everything out of the storage boxes. After a few repairs, it was time to shoot a few photos.

Hmm.. looks like I need some more tacticals to fill out those squads. Either 3 or 13.. Hmm...

Now to pack them all away again.

I know it's been a while since I picked up a brush, but 7 months?!?

Partly, this has been due to the weather. It's hot and sweaty and my room. Partly also because I just can't get into these Deathwing models. Heresy, I know but they just don't inspire me.

Regardless, today I girded my loins and threw some paint at them.

Making very slow progress on these Deathwing models, but slowly getting happier with them. So. Much. Detail. I still have another 10 or so in primer. *le sigh*

I'm starting to think ahead. What will I paint next? Do I start on all the Primaris models I have from Dark Imperium? Do I buy the new starter box? Will 9th Ed lure me back to the table?

I've been working on the gun arms the last few days. They're close to being finished, finally. I just need to arm them , and add a few selected highlights, then I can move on.

It's time to move on to something more appealing. I stuck in there until they were looking decent. That Sergeant model is awful. The pose is horrible.

I still have about a dozen of these undercoated. Including 2 more of those Sgt models. They're going to the back of the pile of shame.

I haven't decided what's next. I'll go through my massive pile of shame and find something that makes me go 'Ooer!'

So, 9th Ed launched pre-orders today and I.. didn't order it. I only really like the SM characters and AUD290 for the 7 models I actually wanted... Is actually probably cheaper than buying them separately later. Oh, well. Hopefully, there'll be a Get Started box at some stage.

Just a small update. Knocked out a couple of tactical marines towards bringing my tactical and devastator squads up to full strength. I think I need another 11 or so to make them all full strength.

Kneeling marine will double as a Sgt if I split the squad into Combat Squads. He's nearly as tall as the standard marine even though he's kneeling.
