When it comes to killing, Khorne looks for quantity, Slaanesh for quality.

The clash between Khorne and Slaanesh is maybe not characterised very well but it's broadly speaking death vs life, seriousness vs playfulness.

And Nurgle vs Tzeentch is despair/acceptance vs hope. Nurgle is about accepting your fate, drawing strength from it and carrying on. Tzeentch is about trying to change - your fate, your circumstances, yourself.

If you catch a terminal illness, Nurgle would say "deal with it. You've got six months to live, so really enjoy those six months", while Tzeentch would say "are you sure it's incurable? How about looking for a cure? If that doesn't work, perhaps we can change the disease or you so it goes away?"

Manic depression is what Nurgle is all about, and what you said, AND hope AND so many other things, thats the wonderful thing about the chaos gods, they are not as simple as the terrible codex fluff insinuates, I think more so than any other codex you have to go looking for the good fluff on Chaos, its all over the place in so many books.

Best ones by far though are the liber Chaotica books, every chaos fan should grab a copy.

Its what I am loving about the Order of the Fly and other Nurgle Characters in Josh Reynolds BL novels - they have a belief, they even talk about it, they contrast what Nurgle can give to them as opposed to the other gods - Chaos and otherwise. It makes them far more interesting to me.

I AM A MARINE PLAYER

"Unimaginably ancient xenos artefact somewhere on the planet, hive fleet poised above our heads, hidden 'stealer broods making an early start....and now a bloody Chaos cult crawling out of the woodwork just in case we were bored. Welcome to my world, Ciaphas."
Inquisitor Amberley Vail, Ordo Xenos

"I will admit that some Primachs like Russ or Horus could have a chance against an unarmed 12 year old novice but, a full Battle Sister??!! One to one? In close combat? Perhaps three Primarchs fighting together... but just one Primarch?" da001

It's much more than that as well. Nurgle is the Lord of All. The "All" in this case being the cycle of existence, from life to death to undeath back to life. He loves the cycle and he wants to make it spin as fast as possible.

But horrible Tzeentch wants to mess with the cycle. He wants to add new states of being, change its direction, turn it into a straight line. Nurgle can not abide by this. To him, the "All" is how all things should be. To tamper with the "All" enrages Nurgle tremendously.

I am honoestly dissapointed with the colorschemes GW is using however I think the models look delightfully rotten.

I really wish the Death guard Plague Surgeon had a plague doctor’s beak mask. I think that would have been perfect.

TOO MUCH CHAOS!!!

Sounds like a good idea for a kitbash, if there's any suitable heads available.

I didn't get anything from Codexes - what I posted is straight from the Realms of Chaos books.

Also, see if you can find the Tome of Corruption book for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (I think for the 2nd edition). Obviously it's set in the Old World, not the Mortal Realms, but the descriptions of the effects of summoning a greater daemon (the effects can radiate for miles - summoning a Bloodthirster can drive people and animals into frenzied attacks on all around them, for example) serve to underline how hugely powerful and malevolent these entities are.

IIRC the capering prankster Nurglings have traditionally been a contrast to the sober, bureaucratic Plaguebearers. And like an indulgent boss, GUOs tended to shower affection on the mischievous Nurglings to the irritation and resignation of the grumpy Plaguebearers.

Indeed. There's a short bit of fiction in The Lost and the Damned describing a gathering of a daemonic host of Nurgle; the Great Unclean one shouts for silence so he can give a speech, and all the Plaguebearers stand about scowling while they try to remember what the last number they counted was.

Dark Imperium has a similar scene, with Ku'gath being the serious Great Unclean One whereas everyone else is busy trying to make music and have a good time, much to the annoyance of the Plaguebearers.

Ku'Gath is kinda a special case though, as he's extremely remorseful over the incident which brought him into being- he denied Nurgle his greatest creation and it's eaten at him ever since.
