How is the sentinel getting up? its not infantry and its a vehicle

That's his point. The sentinel can't, while the landraider can. Because the land raider is not based.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I see what you mean, but why does that matter? the buggy most likely isnt big enough anyways, maybe the back gun is close enough to maybe get into, but i dont see it being big enough.

That made me think of something funny.
Walkers shouldnt melee uphill anyways, what, is it going to do a high kick or a jumping spinning hook kick the guys above them? lol I want to make a Wasp do that now! Or a Wraithlord

PS, just b.c 1 vehicle is getting a base doesnt mean allw ill, and its most likely also b.c there will be a mini game for those buggies so they might did it also for that reason.

If floor 2 is less than 1" above the ground, and they're right on the edge, it would be possible to have your base within 1".

Were there any rules specifically about how vertical measurement is measured? I don't recall.

People complain about stupid stuff like this all the time. They still buy the models. Nothing forces you to put it on the base ether - you can technically use any base you want for a model also - right?

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Possible? yes, but all GW's ruins/buildings are 3" floors and its been the standard to have 3" floors for a while now, thats not counting fortifications or the new Shadow War pieces tho, most will fit this 3", but a few are 5" or 4" for some reason, but the terrain kits that has multi floors are all 3".

And with ork gunner and all it looks like buggy could be 2" tall. At which point, if it didn't have base, it could attack them.

Plus i see 2" tall terrain as well which baseless buggy couldef attack

So we all beefing about terrain rules in this thread huh?

The simple fix is to introduce a game-wide stratagem - 'Vehicular Mayhem - [fight phase only] choose a model with the vehicle keyword that cannot fly, it immediately takes d3 mortal wounds then it may attack any unit within 9" vertically.' No, you don't get to overwatch a Trukk, Buggy, Leman Russ or Shadowsword smashing into the building providing cover.

Am I correct in thinking that IK have a strat that allows them to attack units in buildings? It's pretty bogus, if so, that other massive walkers are somehow unable to do the same.

My most regular opponent is an Ulthwe player. Most of you I'm sure know I play a pretty fluffy Evil Sunz list. His general tactic is to place everything, his Rangers, his Guardians, his Dire Avengers, his Jet Bikes, HIS GODDAMN FLYING TANKS on buildings so that I can't touch them once he has killed my poor Boys. It's pretty stupid that this situation exists if you ask me, though it doesn't make much sense for my Ork Bikes to suddenly grow wings and fly up the side of a building (or does it???!!!).

I concur...feth flying bases as well. This is how I do my grav tanks.

Flight pegs cut to size, inverted and drilled/glued into the base of the grav tanks. Invisible, stable, and allows them to be placed on bizarre terrain easily.

Spoiler:

I'm taking this...

The ridiculous thing is that it's a stratagem. It should just be a rule that big walkers have.

Oh i doubt many are bothered by you nerfing yourself with no game advantagb

Doesn't nerf anything sorry. It has no game effect worth considering. So...meh.

More important things to worry about in this train wreck of a game

Lol last 3 pages has been pointing out how it affects when you suddenly have your reach to ruins dropped. It might not be "end of the world" nerf but there's not many games where I wouldn't have found that limitation effect me. And after GW's new ruling regarding infantry assaulting stuff on upper levels vehicles have become more and more needed for assaulting stuff on ruin upper floors. Ability you abandon.

Mount you vehicles on those big wooden bases like the kind people use for Golden Demon entries. Problem solved.

Also, by having a base, your buggy can avoid melee with infantry by flipping upside down.

I personally think based vehicles look like ass. That doesn't have anything to do with change. Fortunately for me, that's my opinion. It doesn't need logic or mathematical formulas to prove it.

My exact thoughts, it also makes them a PitA to play with as the bases are so large that it often prevents the vehicle from being placed flat on the board when moving over terrain and such which in turn contributes to it looking like ass.

Bases make sense on vehicles that need to fly (Falcons), don't have a clear perimeter (Slaaneshi chariots), need extra structural support (walkers built in dynamic leaping poses), or some mixture of the three. If we're talking something like a Rhino or a Russ it is kind of silly.

Leave the bases off if you don't like them. Or use them as a tool to model your warbuggies doing wheelies or some such so they're structurally useful.

With the amount of terrain my group uses, if I had to base something as large as a rhino or a predator, then they're foot print would make them borderline useless.

Lol the question was somewhat rhetorical.

My stratagem should absolutely be a thing
