Wing Commander! I'd love playing a nice space simulation which features being promoted in ranks, receiving medals and being assigned new ships during the campaign! I really loved the Wing Commander games!

I loved the mission where I was running where you had to scout out a nav point with 2 or 3 Kilrathi carriers in Hornet light fighters with Iceman on your wing. You're supposed to run, but I would slug it out with wave after wave of fighters and eventually killed the carriers. I'd get back and get chewed out by the captain for attacking a force that could have launched a strike that could have easily destroyed the Tiger's Claw and the next scene goes to them awarding you with a gold star. I wouldn't even say the games need even a remake, as I'd be happy to just fight in other sectors of the war with the Kilrathi or continue on from Prophecy.

I would love a new Privateer 1 game. Despite having Christopher Walken and Clive Owen, Privateer 2 wasn't as fun to play. I have tried to play the X games, but find them too boring. Also they all lack Kilrathi and Retros, which makes them inferior to Privateer.

Masters of Magic is a game that many have tried to succeed on but always seems to fail at. Even Age of Wonders 3 never seemed to capture the scale and diversity of the game.

Tenchu Stealth Assassin is a game that I could grandmaster every level in the game, but would have loved to not had to carry a lot of bombs so I could deal with boss fights because the combat controls weren't that great. Also not ninja dancing into a bottomless pit after a Stealth Kill would be nice.

Not a remake, but I'd love a pulp era game that is similar to XCOM but uses supernatural creatures like Vampires, Werewolves, and Demons.

One problem that we can readily see in a lot of modern games is that going for high definition 3D graphics eats up production time and money. A lot of older 2D style games often had way more content in terms of items, characters, races etc... because the art assets were so much simpler to develop. Warhammer Total War actually shows this really well in that the only way to get the huge racial diversity has been to split the product into 3 AAA priced games plus several DLC factions along the way.

I'd love them to go back a bit and do some AAA budget titles, but with the Age of Wonders 2 era art styles. Sure bump it up to higher definition visuals, but I still think that 2D style has power in it still to appeal to people. Sadly a lot of 2D style is currently trapped with softare like RPG maker where its often very small studios/one-man-teams that do the work so they are budget limited themselves on animation and art quality they can often achieve.

It hasn't stopped people from trying to do MoM successors. I know I have two games on steam that that use the sorcerer Rjak from MoM.

One thing they often do is focus on the different races and leave the magic aspect lacking. Age of Wonder 3 would be fine with their limited selection of races that get modified by their class, but once I run out of things to research, I stop playing. You just don't get the selection and you can't come across more tomes by completing dungeons.

From what I've played of it so far, Fallen Enchantress isn't bad. Sure, it's no MoM - but I don't think that will ever truly be equalled.

Well, Underworld Ascendent, a 'spiritual successor' to Ultima Underworld, (and Thief and System Shock if you believe the Steam page, though honestly that's... a weird combo) came out (done by some folks on the original teams).

It is... not looking very good. Save problems, Ai problems, UI problems, an obsessive focus on a physics system that... apparently doesn't really work.

I was keeping an eye on it to see if it really was a good remake/reimagining of Ultima Underworld, but it seems disappointing.

Yeesh. Slipped from 'mixed' to 'mostly negative' as I typed.

It's a case of an overhyped game that didn't have enough time or talent behind it.

Fallen Enchantress is a solid fun game. The problem was it had a very messy release which was basically bugged and missing lots of content. If they'd released it as early access it would have been fine, but as a retail release it was a total mess. They worked on it hard and fixed it up and Fallen Enchantress was the stand alone expansion which was even further and better updated, but the stigma from the launch had stuck and hurt sales/popularity.

Fully agree about the later X games losing some of their 'edge', but the final (storyline) battle in X3 Reunion where there were literally hundreds of ships, including dozens of cap ships, slugging it out even made my high end PC lag at times. I also occasionally prefer the slower pace of sitting back whilst my trade ships make some money helpful in allowing me to do some real world jobs before the wife gets upset, or even better allows me to paint minis.

Back on topic, I forgot Perimeter. Late to the party with that game, but loved it. Shows its age now though. Same for Black or White (and BW2).

Why couldn't I have had my current income when 5 Aspect Warrors were £2.99 a blister...

Oh yeah, Perimeter was an odd one.
Strange and unusual, but quite interesting game mechanics. Basing the economy on terraforming the ground into a flat plane, and drawing power from the resulting flatness was certainly unique! It felt very experimental. Certainly not anything like a mainstream RTS, but it all fit together quite well. I liked it.
A shame the sequel was kinda bad.

As for stuff I'd like to see remade, I've always been a fan of first person RTS games. Controlling an army from inside a command vehicle.
Games like Battlezone (the 1998 version, not the old arcade game), Uprising, Hostile Waters, etc.
Allegiance was/is probably my favourite game of that genre. A multiplayer space combat sim/RTS, where most of the ships are flown by players. Each team with a commander responsible for the RTS side of things; team strategy, economy management, tech research, etc. Organising the players (or letting them organise themselves) into anti-mining operations, bombing runs, base constructor escorts, etc.
I've seen no other game that demanded or rewarded teamwork and coordination to the same extent. Brilliant game.

You know Battlezone has already had a few remakes and spin offs?

As for my suggestion for games I would like to have remade:-

Fallout 76

"Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. " - V

I've just supported the Permanent European Union Citizenship initiative. Please do the same and spread the word!

Oh cool, I should have searched around some more. I did not actually realize a battlezone remake came out earlier this year. I'll have to check it out. Cheers for that

I would like a worthy remake of Jagged Alliance 2.
To this day I still play the fan-patched v1.13 every other year, because it's still one of the best tactical games imo.
